Hopkins was great for 3 rounds, but thereafter you just cannot make a case for him winning with that work rate and punches thrown/landed. I know its 'cuda wud shuda' but Hopkins is so frusrating because the fight was there to win, just like both Taylor fights, but he does not have the work rate plain and simple. It was very close, but being completely objective Joe won the fight, but it wasn't impressive and could've been a different story. Massive props to Joe for getting off his arse with a nasty cut, away from home and digging deeep to nick the win

    My card

    Round 1 Hopkins 10-8
    Round 2 Hopkins 10-9
Round 3 Hopkins 10-9 Could have gone either way imo
Round 4 Calzaghe 10-9 Could have gone either way imo
    Round 5 Calzaghe 10-9
    Round 6 Calzaghe 10-9
    Round 7 Calzaghe 10-9
    Round 8 Calzaghe 10-9
    Round 9 Calzaghe 10-9
Round 10 Hopkins 10-9 Could have gone either way imo
    Round 11 Calzaghe 10-9
    Round 12 Calzaghe 10-9
    Spot on mate.

Thats exactly how i had it EXCEPT for one of the calzaghe rounds i gave as a draw...giving calz a 115, 113 win.

Hopkins put calz down in the first, was a bit of a flash knock down and calz got up totally unaffected instantly, but a kd is a kd none the less and it showed hopkins outclassing him.

However, from the 3rd round on calzaghe started to adapt and figure out hopkins.

WHY DO PEOPLE LOVE TO ARGUE WITH THE FACTS? They are so so so stupid if they say calz slapped hopkins, there was an occassion in round 10 where bhop looked like he was going down, he was rocked badly from a calzaghe hook and had to clinch to survive.

All in all i was impressed with bops effort in the fight, but calzaghe was simply too good, adapted his game and took the fight to hopkins, the aggressor started BOSSING the fight against hopkins negative philly style and picking great punches off on him .

People cant argue with the facts from compubox!!!

    Total thrown (Hopkins/Calzaghe): 468/707

    Total landed: 127/232

    Percentage landed: 27/33

    Jabs thrown: 93/224

    Jabs landed: 11/45

    Percentage landed: 12/20

    Power punches thrown: 375/483

    Power punches landed: 116/187

    Percentage landed: 31/39

THE FACTS CLEARLY SHOW CALZAGHE LANDED MORE PUNCHES AND HAD A HIGHER PERCENTAGE OF HIS PUNCHES LAND ASWELL. He hurt bhop bad in the 10th.

If it wasnt for the knockdown in the first then it woulda been a pretty 1 dimensional fight. But in the end it was calzaghe's ability to adapt and then relax into his unique boxing style and then boss hopkins around the ring, hopkins was spent by the 8th round and tried every dirty tactic (totally unsportsmanlike to take 4 minutes off for a blow that wasnt even low!)...for anyone that says hopkins won...DELUSIONAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are compubox records facts now? Or were you blind, and couldn't see the fight for yourself? You can honestly say those punch stats are valid? If so maybe you haven't watched enough boxing.

This isn't at all like the Taylor fight, Bernard threw more punches than he did against Taylor, he landed more punches, I think Calzaghe was an easier opponent for Bernard style wise. Because Taylor was very athletic and spazzy when Beranrd would come in, it makes it harder to do anything againt him, also because Taylor could hit harder than Calzaghe, and he hit Bernard a lot cleaner than Joe was able to last night.

Course i saw the fight, IVE ALSO GOT IN ON VIDEO AND HAVE SEEN IT TWICE MORE!

Every time i see the fight i come to exactly the same conclusion, hopkins takes 4 rounds, calzaghe 7 rounds and 1 round a draw...that gives calz a 115,113 win.

What totally cracks me up is that calzaghe got the second best punch in the fight, he ROCKED HOPKINS BIG TIME IN THE 10TH, HOPKINS WAS HURT AND IMMEADIATELY CLINCHED...WHY DOES THIS SEEM TO ESCAPE THE 'DOUBTERS' AND 'HATERS' KNOWLEDGE OF THE FIGHT?

Watch round 10 again, ive seen it 3 times already, calzaghe rocks hopkins with a clear hook straight to the chin on nard!

Had nard done that to calzaghe there would be many guys picking up on it but because its the other way round they dont want to acknowledge it!

Sorry, i showed my scorecard of the fight and the facts back up my scorecard and my decissions.

All in all calzaghe started poorly and then from rounds 4-12 (rnd 4 was the turning point) he figured out bhop and outclassed him.

A close fight, but calz threw some quality punches aswell, throwing and landing a lot more than hopkins did.

    DEAL WITH IT, CALZAGHE WON!

In the end its like this:

calz throws lets say 100 punches, 60 of them hit, 20 are power punches.

nard throws 60 punches, 30 of them hit, 17 are power punches.

Thats how it worked, a higher percentage of hopkins shots were power puches BUT CALZAGHE LANDED MORE POWER PUNCHES IN THE FIGHT. Just because someone lands a comparitavely higher amount of punches means nothing because calz threw and landed more big shots. AGAIN I WILL SAY 'LOOK AT ROUND 10 AGAIN!!!'

I have videod this fight and i can see it clearly, theres no way hopkins got the fight...i'll give you the benefit of the doubt though mate seeing as you might not have videod it and therefore have only seen it once. Check the fight out again, in particular when hop is rocked in the 10th, then you see calzaghe doing damage!

Actually Hopkins landed 2nd best punch when he rocked Calzaghe at the end of the round and Calzaghe almost went down.

Wrong...calzaghe wasnt rocked, he never needed to clinch or back off, he just got caught square with his feet square.

you have no idea what your talking about, I have not stated who I was cheering for, I am a big fan of both fihgters.

You know nothing about boxing... I am sure of that. No way did Calzaghe land more big punches, and no way did he ever come close to hurting Bernard.

That fact is that Calzaghe didn't figure Bernard out, Bernard stopped throwing punches, while Calzaghe continued to miss most of his punches. Also Calzaghe was not throwing quality punches, and has not thrown quality punches in a long time except maybe against Kessler. Even against Lacy, it was more the fact that Lacy can't deal with movement or somebody else throwing first than the fact Calzaghe is a "god". Calzaghe definitely wasn't landing crisp punches last night. I thought he would win most of the rounds before the fight, but that it would be tough, but I had no idea Bernard was on a totally different level than Calzaghe when it came to skill. When Bernard was fighting with freshness he was too slick, too hard of a puncher, and too smart for Calzaghe to deal with.

Compubox is almost always wrong. I pretty much never agree with their "facts."

Joe Calzaghe did not even come close to landing 232 punches. That's just silly.

He did enough for a close win but no need to bring up compubox.

I think that is a fair scorecard. All those folk who disagree please show us yours.

I would like to add certain people are writing 'a prime Hopkins would have beaten Calzaghe' are missing one point. The Calzaghe that won, was not a Calzaghe in his prime.
A Calzaghe in his prime would have still have beaten an Hopkins in his prime.

As a fighter Calzaghe has been as good in the last few years as he has been at any point in his whole career... Mean while Hopkins hasn't been the same fighter he was when he faced Trinidad in 2001... thats almost 7 years, and at that time when he was around 35ish I believe Hopkins was in his boxing prime. Because these two aren't the best athletes the sport has ever seen, so as they get more comfortable, stronger, and maintained their endurance these two have climaxed around 35 instead of 27-30 like most fighters.

I cant tell you who won the fight,I really have to go rewatch it
I know Joe was getting credit for head shots that werent landing, and Bernard wasnt getting credit for body shots that were
But I honestly watching it,didnt know who won,I do know that Las Vegas isnt Bernards home territory either,he should have put Joe out when he had him hurt rather then risk it going to the cards.

    Percentage landed: 31/39

i for one cannot see where these 250 punches calzaghe landed. i think the guy counting them must have double clicked the tally counter everytime joe looked like he landed. i saw joe miss, land on the gloves and arms, i even saw him throw punches form distance which where never goner land ( prob to just get his punch output numbers up ) and please don't no one say he was trying to find his range with those.

as soon as the bell rings i can while still standing in my corner throw 7 punches before my opponent is even in touching distance, now that doesn't mean 84 punches get added to my punch total.

looking back at the fight i feel joe threw 600 at best, landing 175, forget this buisness he threw over 700 and landed close to 250, he touched bernard 175 times and hit him maybe 90 times...............you dont get hit 250 times in a 36 mintue time frame by an trained boxer and not have any marks on your face, trust me i've boxed. b-hop didnt hardly have a mark on his face where as calzaghe was cut and bumped on the cheeks

Well the judges saw it his way and you can't say it was a hometown decision either.

This wasn't like the Collazo-Hatton fight where Ricky lost steam over the course of the fight....Joe started slower and ended better and that leaves a better impression on the judges. Hopkins just gave some of those rounds away, he ALWAYS does, he's 43 years old, he can't fight every second of every round anymore.

Joe Calzaghe CLEARLY won that fight: Gimza scored it for Calzaghe, Giampa scored it for Calzaghe, Byrd had it BARELY for Hopkins and Ledderman had it for Calzaghe and Compubox supported the people who had it for Calzaghe and the majority of people here saw it for Joe even some of the Americans....there MUST be some sort of conspiracy

Guys get a grip, Hopkins lost...he didn't get KO'd or anything but he lost the fight as far as him not looking like he's been in a fight he never looks like anything else, with his messed up teeth and broken nose he ALWAYS looks like he's just been in a fight
