it just upsets me that joe now wants roy jones and not pavlik, before this fight he cliamed he'd fight pavlik but now wants nothing of it.

i'm from london, i've spent the last 4 weeks in the gym with a british champion, in america the top tier guys are simple better. joes gone over there, fought a once great american fighter now 43, and saw that he's better then joe's ever been and now doesn't wish to mix with a prime boxer, he knows now that at the top level guys can work you out and expose you, pavlik would have more juice in his legs and more cement in his hands, joe would get ko'd so i dont blame him for not wanting to fight a guy like that but instead going after a 40 year old roy jones who even in his prime wasn't throwing to many punches, joe can ko roy or simple outwork him

please lets not kid ourself, joe has been a great champion at a decent level and we all love the things he's done for british boxing, his fights in wales infront of 50,000 fans has greatly enhanced the reputation of british boxing atmosfere ( de la hoya, mayweather, roy jones have all stated they'd love to fight here, mike tyson has fought here and tyzu ) but he's never gone over there before, and never fought a top fighter for a reason, he was scared he be out of his comfortzone

Not complaining, just making a statement.

I think Pavlik is one dimensional and would be a lot easier for Calzaghe to fight than Jones, but that's just me.

Roy is smart, he has a high boxing IQ, he still has SOME speed and reflexes and the rest he fills in with pure knowledge of the sport. He's spent but he's going to move better and be harder to connect flush against.

Pavlik is young, he's mentally weaker than RJJ in regards to boxing IQ, he's psychologically weaker, he can be drawn into brawls and is affected by showboating and any psychological warfare. IMO both Hopkins and Calzaghe would be extremely tough for Pavlik to beat.

All Jermain Taylor had to do was box and move and he would have beaten Kelly both times but he's stubborn and doesn't fight to the best of his talents and physical advantages and he gets too happy when he's throwing the right cross and loads up on it too much.

I think a sharp counter puncher will whip Pavlik's ass

You also dont rate lenox lewis either, from your other post you said his best wins were beating a past it tyson and holyfield?

Nevermind that he beat klitscho, nevermind that he beat boe, nevermind he won olympic gold, nevermind he smashed the fuk out of ruddock and all the other boxers that tyson beat...lenox destroyed the same boxers that tyson beat and lenox also beat tyson, klitscho and haloyfield.

Sorry fella, im from london aswell...as it stands calzaghe has beaten eubank, reid, lacy, kessler and hopkins.

He will now beat jones (granted a past it jones, i agree there) but ITS JONES WHOS CALLING CALZAGHE OUT! Why is he doing this FOR MONEY, FOR MONEY, FOR MONEY!

Calzaghe will win this and make a massive pay day.

He will then fight pavlik for his last fight and take out pavlik...when this happens will you have an excuse for pavlik?

Joe will be 36 or 37 years old when he fights pavlik, past his best. When he beats a prime pavlik will you make up an excuse then?

I WANT JOE TO FACE PAVLIK BECAUSE WHEN HE BEATS PAVLIK IT TOTALLY AND UTTERLY DESTROYS ANYTHING THAT THE HATERS CAN COME UP WITH!

Joe will retire 47,0,0 after beating eubank, reid, lacy, kessler, hopkins, jones and pavlik.

Reid, lacy, kessler and pavlik being in their complete prime!

When he does this then what will you say?

Surely you have to rate a guy who retires 47,0,0 and beat everyone and in their own back yards? If you cant rate calzaghe then, then you dont appreciate boxing im afraid mate.

Well said mate, i agree. But also got to add that pavlik had superior stamina to taylor aswell.

I just desperately want to see calzaghe fight pavlik because im certain he'll win and when he does he has just defeated another undisputed and unbeaten american fighter at his peak in his own backyard.

First it was lacy, then kessler, then itll be pavlik, someones 0 had to go and everytime people said it would be calzaghe's, every time they were wrong.

After he beats a prime pavlik who easily delt with taylor then there is no arguments at all against calzaghe, it will be plain for everyone to see that after calzaghe beats pavlik that any hater is just a sad, bitter person.

He didn't fight Lacy or Kessler in their back yards...I will say if you dont' respect Roy then you don't respect Joe and vice versa

No mate i was refering to if he beats pavlik in his backyard...lacy, kessler and pavlik will be examples of undefeated fighters who hes beaten in their primes.

I have immense respect for roy jones, he is one of the best fighters of all time.

I have to say that a prime calzaghe vs a prime jones would be one hell of an incredible fight to watch, but sadly neither are at their prime anymore.

Infact imagime a prime jones vs prime calzaghe, it wouldve been complete fireworks lol.

Without being bias or prejudice i honestly dont know who would have won that match up tbh. Both fighters would be capable of opening up and taking shots yet dealing out smashing combos, it wouldve been a crazy fight.

Sadly we dont get to see that fight, but we might get to see roy jones vs calzaghe now instead, who do i think will win?

    Joe calzaghe

If it were prime for prime then id prob say roy jones would be the favorite but wouldnt at all have been suprised if calzaghe beat him.

Id say nowdays its 60/40 in calzaghes favour.

Back then it wouldve been 60/40 in jones favour.

I want to see calzaghe against pavlik in madison sq. where id give it a 60/40 to calzaghe.

I said it before and I will say it again. HOPKINS AND PAVLIK WOULD DO WELL NOT TO FIGHT JOECAL, THE CAREER DESTROYER. Look at Lacy, Kessler, and now Hopkins. DESTROYED.
