i love calzaghe but......

Somehow I agree with Hopkins when he said Calzaghe developed his reputation in the B-level competition.

he has no one to blame but himself for the way he gets no respect........i have spent many post sayinh how i dislike him...........but at the begining i was a fan, i thought this guy can improve and become britans first p4p guy, he's won a belt, is still a bit raw with his punches there more slaps or cuffings but becomeing a champ will improve him, a couple a decent defences then hit the us to clean up slowly...............more then 10 years later, he still choose to fight decent guys, still in the uk, still slapping..........he never improved skill wise and never took the next step up, and finnaly he does its against a 43 year old former great

it should have been so different with joe.....thats whats turned me against him, all his talk over the years has been just that, sad because he should be a household name from 8 years ago

Who's been there 4 him 2 fight though really? he'd of killed himself getting down 2 MW 2 fight Hopkins,n Hopkins was more intrested in the MW title Defence than moving up,RJJ never really seemed intrested in Calzaghe.Who's left?? He never fought Ottke,even if he did he'd have beat him or got robbed in Germany and would'nt have added much at all 2 his legacy,im starting 2 struggle 4 names allready?? Add his injuries and the Frank Warren factor and I dont see how he could of done anything that diffrently.SMW was shite 4 years untill Lacey came through,nothing like the WW or SF,even now there are only 2 names getting mentioned,1 of them is washed up,the other is 2 div below him!!

Youre right, it shouldve been done years ago...im NOT HAPPY that it wasnt done years ago either.

But i dont think its joe's fault tbh, i think its frank warren's fault.

Look at amir khan now, hes had a few fights, now would be a good time to prove his worth by going to the us and fighting for a world title against campbell...BUT IT WONT HAPPEN BECAUSE WARREN WONT DO IT LIKE THAT

As for the original poster...TRUST ME JOE WILL FIGHT KELLY PAVLIK

He will fight jones, probably win and then come out of retirement to fight pavlik in america for a final fight.

In my opinion (i respect people who might disagree with me though) but i think he'll beat jones and beat pavlik...this will give him 47,0,0 beating eubank, reid, lacy, kessler, hopkins, jones and pavlik in his career, he will have been undisputed champ for 12 years and made a record number of defenses.

To me, that will speak for itself.

I want to see him face pavlik and believe it will happen, the reason for this is because when he wins (if he does) he totally destroys any doubt and any of the haters opinions, they will have no platform to stand on when criticising joe calzaghe...believe me it will happen

I already made my prediction before the hopkins fight in a thread and the first part of my prediction was correct...now for the next saga of the prediction to take place, watch as it unravels

blameing frank warren yeah is a valid answer but surely calzaghe has to take blame to, he should have demanded better fights, and gone to vegas years ago

i just feel he wasted his time doing what he did and with it wasted his talent.

he beat charles brewer twice who calzahge told us was true world class when he fought years later. glen johson who calzaghe twice pulled out of fighting then pulled out compleatly. Anthony Mundine. Byron Mitchell, who again calzaghe said was world class american when he fought him. and Robin Reid, one of joes toughest fights

thats 21 title defences charles brewer, glen johson, Anthony Mundine, Byron Mitchell, Robin Reid..........why doesn't that hold any water, why isnt sven classed as good as calzaghe, why oh why did calzaghe refuse to fight sven

Because Sven Ottke didn't even deserve most of those decision. Ottke has got so many gift decisions its ridiculous, his fight against Reid was just a joke. Thats one of the worst robberies i've ever seen.

I don't think Sven is rubbish i think he is a good fighter and slightly underrated by some people, i think if we are just talking about there Super Middleweight defenses then Calzaghe has the edge with his victories over Kessler, Eubank, etc which he did in style. I just never could hold Sven in the same class as Calzaghe based on Sven's gift decisions which you just cannot ignore. I mean you could make a case he should have at least 4 losses on his record.
