Hey killer
Calzaghes record at 168 should be:35-0 (23)
Jones' record at 168 should be:13-0 (11)
If anyones interested their opponents combined W/L/D at 168
Calzaghe:783-176-23
Jones:321-51-8

When Jones fought at 168, he was not only the most dominating fighter of his era, but who I consider one of the top fighters of all time regardless of weight class. He was that good.
Array
I think its pretty easy really. Joe Calzaghe has the greatest record at 168, but Jones is the greatest fighter to fight at 168.
Its the same in a lot of divisions. Take 154 for example. Norris and Mcallum may have the greatest records in that division but Hearns was probably a better fighter than both when he fought there.

Jones on talent
Calzaghe on achievements.
I'd have backed Jones to Beat Calzaghe, but i don't think he would smoke him like a few on here have been saying. Calzaghe is too good to get smoked by anyone. I think Calzaghe's work rate would be a potential problem for Jones. But Jones would present many more problems than just workrate.

Imo you can't give someone the number one spot based on assumptions.Sure Jones JNR was shit hot at SMW and probably would have schooled anyone. But you can't deny Calzaghe his rightful claim to the best SMW of all time just because Roy Jones at a couple of years at the weight and looked good beating people up.
10yrs undefeated.Ring champ,Unified champ..huge problems with his hands throughout his career and he came through it by adapting his style as he aged. Unlike Jones Calzaghe does not rely on his athletisicm..he had to change his style over the years...this for me makes you better than just being amazing in your "prime".

"It wasn't the night of the jab"
i have to bring sven ottka into this again. like joe he made 21 defences, like joe he stayed at home doing so, he even had two bigger belts, WBA, IBF so if calzaghe fans want to call there man the best, svens goto be in this cake

I say Roy Jones Jr. He fought the tougher guys. He knocked a man down three times in one round and was never hit. In his prime he was by far the greatest fighter alive. Mayweather does not impress me like Jones Jr did.

Jones clearly has the quicker feet and the more one punch power.

Jones easily. I'm shocked the voting is so close. I didn't think there were that many idiots on this forum. Guess I was wrong.

i dont think ottka is the best the supermiddle division has seen and nither does many others esp joe calzaghe fans
1) i brought sven ottka in to the debate because he'd spent years as champ like joe
2) because he made 21 defences, just like joe, beating some of the same fighters as joe
3) he fought on home soil, never wanting to leave home, just like joe(take away the b-hop fight at light heavy)
4) he's as big a star in germany as joe is in wales
so if ottka isn't considered anywhere near the best then why do calzaghe fans insist there guy is so much better, tarnishing ottka as low level esp as they both turned down the chance to fight each other ( nither would go to the others country, and a nuetral ground couldnt be set up either, both it seems wanted home advantage)
roy jones and james toney would beat both at super middle with style

i'm not really a fan of ottka, i haven't seen all that much of him but what i've seen is a decent boxer not much more but not enough to be an expert on him like you fenster
i used to be a big fan of calzaghes, when he won the wbo belt by beating eubanks i thought yes, britans got a good young boxer who if he works away can become the next big star, ( like nigal benn, chris eubank, ) he can improve his skills, improve his approach by fighting some good euro level guys then take on the best out there......... a few years later he still was fighting those half decent fighters telling us there super, a few more years and still the same story, always saying he'll go out to america, or anywhere else to fight the best but it didn't seem to happen...........few more years same old story from him and frank warren.
i've got a fight of his..... where he tells us brewer is true world class, top top class, that he only fights the best in the world, brewer already had 8 loses when he fought joe and no one would say he was top top class.........over time i lost any respect i had for a boxer who i once thought could be britans first p4p king.............
