Ah, gotcha.. Guess I wasn't really aware of the rumours or how far along the fight had been discussed. Just heard it was possible but didn't expect Mundine to travel to Denmark. Since your another Canadian, do you like Bute and give him a decent shot at Kessler? I'm completely unsure of what to think of him at that level. I liked him a couple years ago from the little I'd seen, definetly an exciting style he's got and he looked really good as a young prospect fighting decent opp and stopping them. But I really wasn't too impressed in his fight with Bika, which was actually the last I saw him. Only saw the highlight KO of Berrio. I guess Bika is a good fighter who is rugged and all that, just seemed like Bute had a lot of issues in that fight, like he has big lapses where he tries to switch between offence and defence and just get's caught somewhere in between and can't get any good work done. Shouldn't be anything he can't work on but you never know as noone's pressured him like Bika, and fighting William Joppy at this point isn't the way to improve anything.
For whatever reason I'm not a big fan of Bute. He has skill and power, but he seems really inconsistant at times, like the Bika fight. I would definately favor Kessler over him, but I've never seen Kessler fight a southpaw with the skill level of Bute, so that could certainly be a factor. Berrio can punch, but his defense is suspect; I'd like to see Bute take some steps up in competition, fighting anyone in the top 10 at SMW would be a start. Like you said, beating William Joppy didn't prove anything. Despite the hype, I'm just not sold on Bute as a world-class fighter yet.
Bute is injured and will be out of action until at least the Fall. He is not fighting Bute. Bute's team would never take that fight anyway. Look at the competition Bute has faced so far, he is big time protected so far.

Sooner or later Bute will have to fight someone in the top 5.

Thing is that's when I was kind of big on Bute, a couple years ago his competition didn't look too bad at all considering how many fights he had. THey may not be recognizable names but he definetly did get his career off to the right start fighting solid pro's and gradually stepping it up... I actually like the way he's been handled up until William Joppy, side from him basically everyone he's fought in the last few years have been the best fighter he's been in with on each night. That's how a prospect should come along imo, I just question whether he actually has the ability or boxing brain to be elite. The fact that his people put him in with Joppy at all wasn't promising to me, unless he was already injured or something. Either way, will be interesting to see if does take a big step up soon.

From what i remember Bute pounded Bika way worse than Calzaghe did.

Kessler will be fighting Dmitri Sartison (22(14)-0): Sidste! Kessler mod off. WBA-udfordrer Sartison

Decent record, although completely untested. Not sure what to make of it really, but I'm happy to just see Kessler in the ring again, and I guess he will be the favorite big time.

Apparently this is for the 'regular' WBA belt that Mundine holds now, but I'm not at all sure how that works out. According to Team Palle Mundine's people willingly gave up the title in order to not meet Kessler again, but whether that's the (whole) truth, I have no clue.

So that is the huge name Palle promised? Kessler had better get away from his management team and quick.

I've heard Mundine will be fighting Sturm in Germany in August, not yet released to media but the guy I talked to is pretty adamant.

Mundine would have avoided Kessler at any cost, i'm guessing Kessler (like Mundine would have thought) will be wanting to murder the next person he fights. Which is why mundine is apparently dropping down to fight Sturm.

Palle seems to be a Frank Warren-esque manager. Tough negotiator.

    I would have preferred Miranda.

Could this mean that he is fighting who Froch is not fighting?

Kessler deserves this tune up. As for Mundine im disappointed in him, Sam Soliman again? Worse than the Calzaghe Veit rematch!

Mundine will beat Sturm if he fights him imo, but will either of these guys actually fight someone as dangerous as each other?

Mundine has announced down here that he is going down to 160lb?
A fight with Kessler seems unlikely if this is true. With Mundine you never know what is fact or fiction!

This is good news if true. Mundine always looked a tad small at 168, at 160 he'd be a danger to anyone with his fast hands. His weakness is his chin and the lighter he goes the less an issue that'd be.

If Pavlik stays at 160, I wouldn't mind seeing a Pavlik - Mundine match-up, assuming Abraham doesn't want any part of Pavlik.
