In the press conference the other day he was throwing out names like Torres and Kotelnik as possible fights to unify some of the titles if the Hatton fight does not come off...I asked him why not Malignaggi once his scheduale becomes clear...Since he beat Kotelnik once already and that would not really prove much towards his claim of being the best 140lb fighter in the world....

I never seena fighter back pedal so fast in my life...No lie...All of a sudden Witter starts talking about he does not call out fighters and he only fights itr is promoters who make those decisions blah blah blah....
    Hang on a minute.

Why would Witter call out Paulie when everyone knows Hatton-Paulie is set for later in the year?

No disrespect Daxx - but maybe he thought you weren't on the ball?

First off there is no contract, not date, no promotions or anything else set for Hatton/Malignaggi....The fight is not set in stone nor have negotiations even officially taken place.....

And to answer your own question...Why keep calling out Hatton if you know he has 2 fights already set...(Lacanzo already a go for later this month and IF Hatton Malignaggi was a go)....

Not too mention his even saying he wanted Torres or Kotelnik was not until another guy asked him if the Hatton fight can not materlialize then what other Champions or top guys in the division do you have your eyes set on...

So I am pretty sure I am on the Ball
Of course it's not official ... but EVERYONE that follows boxing KNOWS Hatton-Paulie is lined up for later in the year. Why do you think Paulie is on Hatton's undercard?

Witter has been chasing Hatton for the past EIGHT years (long before they were "world" champs). Hatton is Witter's biggest MONEY fight by MILES. They are ranked no.1 and no.2 in the WORLD at 140. Witter would like the chance to prove himself top man.

Naturally seeing as Paulie/Hatton are tied up for the remainder of the year he'll seek a unification fight.

    What's wrong with that?

Your not getting the point so forget it...I am not getting into something that I see is going off the track....

Malignaggi is as available as Hatton is....Hatton keeps saying no...Witter wants to prove he is the best 140lb fighter in the world....The fight any of the champions...Paulies name was left out purposley...he back peddaled at the mention of Paulie....Has nothing to do with a possible match he may have with Hatton later in the year

Fair enough, I must be missing the point

Although I hope you weren't insinuating Witter is scared of Malignaggi?

Here you go Daxx, this is what Paulie thinks about Witter -

Junior Witter is probably the most dangerous, underrated, unappreciated fighter in boxing. I’d love to meet him in the ring but that’s up to the networks. Witter is definitely the best light welterweight in England."

Paulie must think Hatton is EASIER/SAFER than Witter. Fact.

    Paulie contadicting himself there

Witter doen't deserve a big fight, who has he beat of a high standard and please don't say Vivian Harris..jesus he has made a career based on Hatton's name and that's were his popularity comes from, it is evident it doen't come from inside the ring as why was the Harris fight staged in the Doncaster Dome LOL.

It's a warmup fight for Paulie later in the year, a confidence booster after getting KO'd by a ringpost

Saying Witter is sacred of Malignaggi...No I don't think Witter is the kind of guy that is scared to fight anyone...

Preferring to take on the two easier of the three...Maybe...IMO at this point in time the want to fight Hatton has become more of an unhealthy obsession with Witter then anything....

Truth is I asked Witter the question more or less to throw a wrench at him...Witter loves to talk about himself and how great he is during press conferences and such...Witter is not good at coming with answers...

EG- Most guys would have said something like...

"If a fight with Malinaggi becomes available I would be willing to meet him"

Witter sat for 5 seconds thinking to himself...

"WTF does Malignaggi have to do with a damn thing I though we were talking about me?"....

Witter calling out PAC is an evidence that PAC is now a player at lightweight or even at 140... PAC is more important to Witter than Paulie...

    .
Before we start calling pacquiao a player at LW and let alone at 140 lets see how he does at the weight when he fights Diaz...

I like Pacquiao as much as the next guy but he really is not that good of a boxer...It is his power and determination that pull him to the end...If his pop does not carry with him well at 135....At 140 there is no shot....

WTF is with some of you guys....

i agree, pac's performance against diaz will be an important yardstick... but pac is already a player when he enters the 135 division... see, jmm and mab already signifies their intention of following pac at 135... i also expect other sf to follow suit like guzman... now wbc 140 champ witter calling out pac...

Timothy Bradley is a young, hungry, and undefeate fighter. I hope hes not overlooking him as I suspect he is, cause he he may be in for a surprise tomorrow.

Man Witter looks like a right proper tool. He talks and talks and talks. Then the few times he gets a shot, he becomes a tosser. It is so easy not to like him. He has a shitty personality, he takes things for granted, and no one likes his style.
