I don't know much about politics, but all I can say is this:

If our next president is even half as bad as George Bush, this country is done for. You might as well blow it off the map, at least then it will be a quick painless death. Only 7 more months until that hellbound douchebag is out of office, and it will be the longest 7 month wait we've ever endured.

George Bush II makes Jimmy Carter look like Pericles, that's how bad he is. I still can't believe he got re-elected, though I also can't believe that the Democrats chose Kerry to oppose him.

Worry not. Obama can't win, and either Clinton or McCain will be much better than Bush. So we'll probably have McCain. That will be a vast improvement.

Boozer - this is the best set of candidates we've had in a long time. They might not be great, but compared to Bush vs Kerry, we're looking at the best and the brightest.

No Al Gore, no John Kerry, and no George W. Bush.....what's not to like about these candidates

The President doesn't control the economy...if that was true how did W get us this far when he couldn't even run the Texas Rangers

McCain is for ending the war he's just for ending it a different way than Obama and Hillary and that would be the way which ties up loose ends and keeps us from having to go back in 5 years.

Boozeboxer, playing to the base of the party is a part of politics. McCain had to "kiss the ring" after he had the balls to propose a solution to the illegal immigration problem. If McCain gathers support from the far right then it's going to be a fucking LANDSLIDE the likes of which we haven't seen since the days of Reagan-Mondale.

We need a guy who honestly wants us united and I think that is McCain. The Democrats try to discredit him but he's different from W he's more open minded, smarter, he's a true leader, and he's tough as nails. Democrats HAVE to respect him for what he's done for this country....everything Obama has said in the past about change and hope and all this Che Guavera/Karl Marx bullcrap (which is exactly what it is) is summed up in his assessment of the blue collar people as "bitter" and "clinging to guns and religion"....Obama is not what we need he's a guy who can and will put down this nation to make himself more popular and that is the difference between Democrats and Republicans, you'll never catch a Republican telling anyone that America OR Americans suck.

John McCain is a man who will humble himself to lift up America and tout it's greatness.

I don't think the landslide will be that bad, but it will be decisive if Obama is the nominee. Obama can win states in the Northeast, the west coast, and Minnasota, but he'll get killed in the south and rust belt.

Obama would be more devisive than George W. Bush.....people won't think it's possible but he'd really piss people off with his policies. With Obama's policies you wouldn't be in control of your own life...the government would want a say in everything due to Obama wanting "economic fairness"...so if I want to work hard and make big money then I'm going to get hated on for succeeding and taxed to hell and back and so I stop working hard, get welfare, and then everyone becomes a lazy government controlled government dependent robot

As for all these democrats berating "Big Oil" for their landfall profits....well if "Big Oil" is making big money then wouldn't you think that the entity that taxes such organizations would also be raking in money hand over fist

So this talk about taxing them more just goes to show you how greedy and stupid the Democrats are. "We want to punish people who make lots of money"....the truth is if they tax "big oil" then we as consumers feel it more! Now say they said "We're going to ease the tax burden on oil companies so that prices come down" then the government would be doing everyone a solid and everyone would be happy OR say the Democrats get off their high horse and let us drill in our own back yard so we don't have to deal as much with the Saudi's and the Middle Eastern people and then next time they fuck up we can just say "Screw you guys, we're going home".

Lyle, I appreciate your enthusiasm and patriotism, but everytime I read your political posts I want to punch myself in the throat.

Are you on the Republican payroll? Otherwise, how can you buy into the propaganda so completely? It's clearly obvious that neither major party has the best interests of the nation in mind - the goal of our modern government is to provide blanket security for the demon CORPORATION.

Plato had it right - unfortunately, there are no philosopher-kings in the election this year.

I vote none of the above.

McCain would be a nightmare, not as if our economy isn't bad enough, put him in charge, that sounds like a good idea. Might as well put me in charge or Lyle. Maybe not Lyle.

Obama's actually more popular among independents than Hillary. That, the economy (and McCain's complete lack of any real economic credibility), and the fact that Democrats are much more energized as far as turnout goes than Republicans, I'd be surprised if McCain won. Hopefully not, this country is in too bad a shape for another Republican to win.

I'll say this though, those "Democrats" that are supporting Hillary and say they won't vote for Obama are a fucking embarrassment. Fuck off, should all be shot. Maybe not shot (that's a bit excessive) but they disgust me. Obama and Hillary don't even have many real policy differences, because you have a PERSONALITY problem with Obama you're going to put another train wreck of a Republican in to office. Good that you care so much about the future of the country.

I'm sure most of them will change their mind by the time of the election but its still ridiculous.

I won't take too much offense to that, Oumafan, because I'm a independent. You are right that when it comes to the ideology and the theory of there policy, Obama and Hillary aren't much different. Personality-wise, I prefer Obama, and for a while, I was enthusiastic about him, but being president is not just about your policies. It's also about your management skill, your understanding of world politics, and your experience dealing with the legislature. It's about gravitas. There are substantive differences between Hillary and Obama.

Lyle drinks the Republican Kool-Aide, but he is right that McCain would make a decent president. Even Hillary acknowledges that. In fact, McCain acknowledges that Hillary would be a good president. I've seen both of them asked the question directly, and although they have differences in believe and policy, each believes the other is a qualified candidate.

However, Lyle, I think you are dead ass wrong that Obama would be more divisive than Bush. I don't think it's possible to be more divisive than Bush and at least Obama would TRY to build bridges with the other side. And Democrats aren't any more greedy than Republicans. Just like Republicans, they are severely misguided about some things.

Lyle you are very silly. Of course big oil is making huge profits, record profits. Just look to companies like Anadarko, Shell/Texaco, hell even El Paso is making money. Not only that, they are surely offsetting this all with there huge projects oil companies. Big Oil are doing alot of construction and stuff.
