Bowe had the mental toughness to beat Holyfield...Tyson didn't....Bowe lost ONE fight out of 43 fights and he KO'd 33 fighters. He lost ONCE to a PRIME Evander Holyfield whom he also beat twice and once by KO.

Bowe's prime was short as was Tyson's but Bowe's style was perfect to beat Tyson

Bowe was brilliant the night he beat Holyfield, never fought as good as that again in his career but I feel had Tyson landed a left hook that Holyfield landed on him he would have KOed Bowe and stopped him.

funny, I was actually thinking about doing a thread on how good could Buster Douglas have been.

Just watched that fight again for the first time in like 8 years last night and Buster had it all. Big, strong, fast, great jab, nice right hand. Great footwork and balance, the way he could take a hop step back, plant and throw a right all in pretty much one motion was impressive.

He came right out and took it to Tyson, you can talk all about what Tyson didn't do, what Douglas did do was bounce some big rights off his head right off the bat. I'd forgotten how quick he could be.

And he was incredible at punching off the break

Tyson was poor in that fight but Douglas was inspired and i believe many thought he would beat Holyfield if he took that form into his next fight. All bets were off when he weighed in for the fight!

Yeah but also what version of Tyson was it that Holyfield beat?....Holyfield was also the best HW in the sport at the time...

\A 1996 Tyson was far from his best

Yes and hence my conclusion...I was talking about "what if Tyson fought better opposition post prison" .....I would have had more respect for him had he fought those guys instead of: Neilen, Botha, Savarese, Julius Francis, and Orlin Norris.

Tyson fought a lot of bums

Very good one of the best Heavyweights for sure but for certain beatable, he had a hard time with James Tillis, and was getting out boxed by Tony Tucker until he broke his right hand in the 4th round. And that was because both Tillis, Tucker, had good movement, so i think fighters like Holmes, Ali, would have been able to beat Tyson in his prime.

I think that was a version of Tyson that had already given up on his career and could care less how he went down in history as....He wantd to be paid and he knew or should I say his people knew Tyson drew a huge crowd no matter who he fought so why fight anyone dangerous....

The Holyfield and Lewis fights were more because it was what fans wanted to see then Tyson wanting to prove something

Come 1995 I pretty much cut Tyson off as a fighter who actually was something...ecverything forward from tat was a circus act

I fully agree with you Daxx. After he lost to Douglas, everything was a circus act. That's why the heavyweight division is having a hard time recovering its lost glory.

Tyson had been fighting for money and did not care anymore about how he will go down in boxing history coz he has already lost his sanity.

So I would say that a prime and SANE Tyson would have beaten all the heavyweight ATGs.IMO

I was at the Tillis fight...Mike was not used to guys running and holding Tillis gave an awkward fight...In no way did Tillis come close to winning''''He was just frustrating Tyson...By the next year Tyson was a different fighter...Ring maturity wise

Yeah. Tyson won that two fights by UD. By the way, how old were you ICB during that time? Have you watched those fights live ?
