Probably the most skilled Mexican fighter ever only behind Ricardo Lopez, the thing i always liked about Sanchez was his almost unreal stamina, he always seemed to have a bit more than his opponent in the last few rounds, i mean the fight with Azumah Nelson was very close but he went out for the 15th round like it was the 1st round. And got the stoppage win, he also comeback well in the later rounds when he was behind against Patrick Ford, Ruben Castillo, etc. I also loved his counter punching style i would have loved to have seen him vs Marquez.
I want add that this boxer Salvador Sanchez was a great Warrior , a Legend like everybody knows a boxer that had to be respect in to the Ring and the only boxer that i remember that fought him until the 15 round was Juan Laporte , that was a battle , but the fight with Wilfredo Gomez i always had the intrigue , if Gomez in a rematch with Sanchez could had the Victory , i dont know if everybody knows that , but Wilfredo Gomez underestimed Sanchez in that time , he in the night before of the fight , he were Fu****g with an Novel Actriz in the Hotel of San Juan P.R. and the beat that he took that night by Sanchez was the Prise that he paid for broke the rules............
But you guys , Are you think that Wilfredo Gomez could win to Sanchez in a rematch ?............

He was simply a GREAT and sadly stolen from us so young
R.I.P Salvador
One of the best P4P fighters.
I don't think Gomez would of won a rematch, purely because Sanchez would of got better and better. IMO Sanchez hadn't even reached his prime yet. But saying that i heard Gomez was really hungry for the rematch.

Was a Shame what happened to Sanchez...........Good Legend....![]()
Salvador Sanchez was in his prime when he died.
Im not so sure about that he was so young it is hard to believe that he wouldn't of fine tuned his style to perfect it. Remember a lot of fighters reach there absolute peak in there mid 20s or late 20s, and sometimes even later than that, I also heard he was having trouble making Featherweight so it would of been interesting to see how he would of done at the height weight classes.
Great tribute sent some Rep. your way...
I enjoy your vids good stuff....
I did a tribute to "Chava" last year and it's one of my fav. threads ever. I put a lot of work into it as I'm sure you did too with this vid.
"Chava" was a really good boxer but I think skills alone, "Finito" Lopez is better and I'd would also make a case for Roman. The thing for me about "Chava" is that he wasn't hard to hit. Not sure how many "Chava" fights you've seen but you can def. see that he wasn't hard to hit. Lopez and Roman on the other hand were hard to hit.
Not sure if you know who Masao Ohba is but the similarities between Ohba and Sanchez just give you the chills. Young talented fighters who had the boxing world on their hands and were destined for greater things and both tragically died in car accidents at the age of 23 while still being champions...![]()
good to see that people still think of salvador sanchez, he was a great fighter and would be in my top ten of all time greats love the azumah nelson and patrick ford fights
