I know the Ring Belt has some mixed reviews, but follow me for a sec. Most of the big money fights are staged in the US. If the US passed legislation forming a federal boxing commission that only recognized the Ring Belt and their rankings you would see dramatic change in the matching of fighters. As far as I know the Ring doesn't charge sanctioning fees and has at least the most objective rankings. If the alphabet orgs couldn't charge sanctioning fees much less get any publicity in the US they would almost cease to be players in the boxing world. Not only would we see more of the top fighters fight one another but a federal commision could do wonders for fighters pensions, set standards for what type of contracts can be signed, judging, promoting and overall do a better job of protecting boxers from the ills of the game. I hope one day this can become a reality. I don't mean this to be some ploy for US interests to dominate boxing only that money runs the game and most of the money runs through Vegas, Atlantic City , NY etc.

The Gov't fucks up just about everything they dabble in. The big fights are as of recently, really getting made. Cotto/Margarito, Hatton/PBF, Calzaghe/Kessler/Hopkins, Vasquez/Marquez, I can't think of any matchup That REALLY NEEDS TO BE MADE that isn't being. Sure there are bullshit fights being made with no real signifigance (PBF/ODLH) but I don't think that will ever go away. Hell even Arthur Abraham is coming out of his shell.
I mean yeah some of the lower tier fights are proper shit but most of those we wouldn't get on TV anyway.
