Arthur got saved from defeat.Frank Warren will put him in with someone that will make him look good then say Guzman avoided Arthur plus that way it keeps the money rolling in if he keeps winning.

Arthur is murdered at the weight anyway. He'll get given the belt, defend it against a Mexican roadsweeper or two then he'll have to vacate it and move up.

Not really surprising, I haven't seen the article but I would assume that now Arthur's people will say that it was Guzman who pulled out, blah blah. Guess that was the point of going through the whole charade with the purse bid and all that.

How the hell is the guy cowardly??

he agreed to fight one of the hardest punchers in the division!!
guzman is no way a big puncher , he hits you often but not with much sting,

to be honest it did look like this was going to happen and there must be more to it than just the visa troubles i think

guzman is going to avoid british fighters like the plague now i expect especially after his fight with scott harrison falling through

whats going on thought just recently so many fights being cancelled or postponed

    judah - mosley
    valuev - chagaev 2
    skelton - sam
i dare say there are alot more i cant think of right now but it certainly seems like alot of fights have been pulled

Damn I was looking forward to Guzman thrashing Arthur!

I thought it had been rescheduled for 14 June?

Oh well, hope Guzman can get back in there soon against a top 10 rated guy.

I really want to see him against JMM, best fight that can be made at 130 IMO

Well, Guzman isn't actually regarded as a puncher at all at the weight. He's supremely skilled, slick and fast, but not a puncher.

He's cowardly, because ever since the fight has been made Arthur has been shifting opinions, changing dates and procrastinating in relation to the fight.

It not only seemed that he fell into the fight by accident by mentioning Guzmans name and the negotiations going so quickly, it also seemed he did everything he could during negotiations to make the fight a difficult deal and when Guzman still agreed to the terms Arthur still shook his way out of it.

He put a lot of energy into shaking this fight off.
Bit harsh to call Arthur a coward.

He is, after all, a pro boxer that gets punched for a living
He selects who he lets punch him and shales off his first threat

I'm a bit confused by this. Why is everyone slagging off Arthur for this fight not happening when its Guzman who pulled out?

I thought the fight was postponed originally because of problems with Guzman not Arthur?

What has Alex done wrong in this?

Think various critics think alex has ducked fighters since the gomez fight.

For the ones though that claim arthurs team intentionally made this fight under the pretence that guzman wouldnt obtain a visa...

you lot are watching way too much TV!!

Mate, I think you're a bit confused. NO-one is claiming - i'm not anyway - Arthurs people PLANNED that the visa would be the fight scupperer. There's any number of reasons fights get called off.. and probably MANY reasons made public differ from the truth

    The whole fight seemed iffy.

Arthur was rumoured to be pulling out a few days before Guzman had the apparent visa problems.

Arthur Quashes Rumours Of Injury (from The Herald )

Heres what Guzman said about the visa - "I received my visa on April 24 and was ready to travel to Scotland the following day. I could have fought him on the original date.

"I don't know why a new date has to be found, other than the fact that Arthur is flat-out scared of me."

Seriously guys.....if you were a promoter and the opposition in your main event still hadn't secured a visa and could give no guarantees that he'd show up ten days before the fight, would you just ignore it and hope everything turns out ok? You saw the shambles that was the original Mitchell-Johanneson fight....if I'd been landed with that disaster of an evening months before this happened I'd have postponed it before Guzman finally got his visa too.

And you're criticising Arthur for Guzman being notoriously unreliable? Guzman was the title holder, so the fight had to be made....if Guzman don't want to fight, then there's only one person to blame.
