I didn't know he was dead either.

Such a funny guy, what a shame.

Late in the evening on March 29, 2005, Hedberg was found dead in his room in Livingston, New Jersey.[1] His death was first announced by Howard Stern[citation needed] on his morning talk show and confirmed by the St. Paul Pioneer Press later in the day.

Hedberg was known to be a drug user, referring to it in some of his jokes ("I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too"), and was arrested in Austin, Texas, in May 2003 for possession of heroin.[1] He was also born with a heart defect for which he received extensive treatment as a child.[9] It was initially speculated that his heart condition may have played a part in his death until the New Jersey medical examiner's office reported "multiple drug toxicity," including cocaine and heroin, as the official cause of death.[1] Results of the autopsy and toxicology reports were first reported by journalist Peter Hyman in the January 2006 edition of Spin magazine.[1]

Due to Hedberg's death being very close to April Fool's Day, many fans originally thought that it was an April Fools' Day prank pulled by either Hedberg or those close to him.

Yeah Mitch Hedburg is hilarious there are so many funny lines he has. One thing though, I HATE when people try to tell his jokes and do it in his voice because they all suck at it. Actually, I'm talking about one person but it doesn't matter.

Love his bit about escalators it's my favorite.

An escalator can never be broke,it only can become stairs.
They have to put a sign up saying,"Escalator Temporarily Stairs,Sorry For The Convienience"

the cashier gave me a reciept for a donut and i thought to myself I do not see how there would be a situation where I would need documentation proof of this purchase.

I was at a heavy metal concert and the lead singer asked the audience: "Are you guys humans?"

I answered yes I am.

The lead singer then continued to ask right after that to the audience: "or are you guys animals?"

I did not no it was a 2 part question. Had I known it was a 2 part question i might have answered differently
