Everyone is giving Margarito too much of a shot in this fight, imo. Cotto will outbox him handily.

And when exactly has Margarito been in the ring with a fighter that posseses Cotto's skills? Only guys who come close have made him look average, in Williams and Clottey(who would've won handily without the hand injury imo). I think Mosley and Judah were both tougher fights for Cotto than Tony will prove to be, and both of them landed good shots on Cotto to little effect, which indeed would indicate it was the weight, if you ask me. Sure it could be a grueling battle of attrition, but I think only if Cotto isn't smart enough to ensure that it isn't. I really feel he has the skills to avoid having to go to war with Tony. I'm not denying Margo is going to be hell for anyone if their gameplan is to stand toe to toe with him all night, but Cotto's ability to counter punch and fight off the back foot havve been getting better every fight.
Here this is from todays press conference in New York.
Yeah, he looks a little heavy to me.
The question could also be asked when has Cotto been in the ring with someone as big, strong, durable, and active at Margarito? I'd definately give the advantage for Cotto, for the reasons you mentioned, but this is by no means a slam dunk for him and something tells me Margarito will find a way to win; though I'm by no means 100% sure Margarito will win, this is the type of fight I go back and forth on. That being said, I've gone against Cotto in his last 2 fights, and he's always proven me wrong.

I don't think Cotto is going to box the whole fight like a lot of people seem to think he is going to do. Margarito is a long armed puncher Cotto can afford to go inside on him because he has the shorter punches and the faster hands. Sure he can outbox him but I've never seen Cotto on the back foot for to long except against Mosley which was only about half the fight. Also the outside is Tony's wheel house I think that's giving Tony his best shot. I know he has the ability to counterpunch and outbox Margarito but I wouldn't doubt he spends more time then expected inside just because he can afford it.
Guys I really wouldn't worry about Margarito. He has been waiting for this shot for years, I seriously doubt he is letting himself go in the face of his career defining fight. Yeah he looks older, but that is because he is no spring chicken, which is all the more reason why I think he will be right on schedule with weight....he knows how much is on the line and he has been through making weight before.
My face looks kindof puggy in a suit with a tight collared shirt. It is just kindof a perception.
And remember those pictures of Tony at weigh in are when he is gainter than a whipperwill, because he is very large at 147. And I know you all have seen him in between fights but I think you all are just getting too anxious and excited.
THIS IS GONNA BE AWESOME!!! (Sorry about your car man)

Just a bit of water, my guess. Lose that in a day.
Hard for me to say, I'm a recently converted Margarito fan.. He does look a little heavy but could be a few factors... If I put on 5lbs its all in my face so who knows.. Like Booze says suit and tie are probably the least flattering thing a guy can wear if he gains a minimal amount of weight...
I agree no way he is reckless and haphazzard in the face of his career defining fight and excellent opportunity.. There is no brighter stage for Tony than this..
Then again mick is right, he has met and stood next to Tony a few times so he knows how he typically looks between fights...
I think it will be fine come JulyMaybe Tony is gaining and Adding alittle more muscle for Armor against Cotto's Body work

I just think personally that Margarito is the most dangerous opponent Cotto has ever fought IMO. Margarito is very big physically for Welterweight as well so it will be interesting. Boxing skills wise theres no contest Cotto is by far the superior boxer but i feel Margarito will have his moments when Cotto is against the ropes, where Margarito does some of his best work. Plus Margarito has good uppercut which is Cotto's biggest weakness. I think Cotto wins a tough UD Cotto's hooks are much shorter than Margarito's so he will be able to win exchanges then get back out of there and stick to his boxing.
I think Margarito can get him backing up .....And not simply because Cotto descides to put on a boxing clinic and dictate terms.I think Maragritos Volume and angel's will cause many problems for Cotto. The ring ends at some point...On the ropes.Margarito's uppercuts can find Cotto.Cotto's jab will be key,Body & head & his bodywork has Improved alot.Tony's upper cuts can find Cotto also.I can honestly see both hurt in the body And I am Picking Margarito to TKO Cotto late.
You have reason ICB , i agree , to me who get the better phisical condition ( Shape ) and comes with diverses strategies for fight that is who will win ...............
But about the weakness , we know that ones of Cotto , is the uppercut that sometimes put him in bad situation though , where had much improve and Margarito we know that he does not boxing technically enough...............but
What else do we can say about their Weakness..............?
