A Mayweather- Hatton rematch at the moment would be pointless as Floyd will outbox him again. Mayweather should try and get a fight with Mosely then the winner of Cotto-Marg to secure his legacy. I think Hatton is on the slide and will win tomorrow but will get outboxed by Paulie in the Garden.
The devil in me would like Hatton to win this one but just barely or by robbery (remember the fight in Manchester)... So that Hatton will completely forget the PBF rematch and Paulie...
And Hatton will redirect his focus to the smaller PAC as his last money fight then PAC beat the hell out of Hatton...
.
I think the talk of a rematch is stupid aswel...honestly what does he think is going to happen?! there is no way in my eyes i can see him winning it....and im pretty sure most of the public will see that. However the British public is what wound me up in the first place about the first fight. Everyone suddenly jumped on the bandwagon and was like 'ricky won the mind games, hes going to knock him out, he's in better shape' yet at the same time being ignorant to the fact that PBF is a far far far superior boxer that Hatton can ever hope to be.
Shame on you El GamoHow could you want Hatton get KTFO? regardless of what you think of him as a fighter, he is a stand up guy!!
...and to say he hasn't fought anybody![]()
Sorry man, stand up guy or not,he does not deserve a rematch with Floyd in anyway shape or form. He thinks he can beat Lazcano and Paulie and go back to 147 to fight Floyd? Hell no! And I said he hasn't fought anyone since his loss to FLoyd which would merit a rematch with Floyd.
You want to fight the best at 147,go and beat some other fighters at 147. Margarito's beaten 7-8 RING top 10 fighters at WW and is only getting his shot at the bigtime NOW.Hatton can't just waltz to 147 fight, get KTFO and demand a rematch. He does'nt deserve it.
I think Hatton's body and chin just don't sit well at 147...
If the ref or fight style allowes him to fight his fight, and do the most damage that he can inside, then I believe he does have the power to trouble a lot of the 147's out there...
But to get off all the effective shots he needs to bring down some of the better guys at 147, he's going to get hit with a lot of very hard punches...
I don't think his chin stands up to that very well.. He's a tough guy and realises it's "not a tickling contest", but getting tagged with to many hard punches makes him abandon his game plan a little (as it would do with most fighters)... He gets more weary of coming in, and isn't as effective at bullying and overpower the bigger opponents at 147..
He is certainly not a bad fighter, and has done very well against some very good fighters in my opinion... I take nothing away from him..
But basically, I think he's just missing 2 or 3 assets to really succeed at 147 (which is lets face it, one of the most competitive divisions right now).
1. Chin that he would need to be able to withstand the punches he needs withstand in order to get his own work done.
2. Defence to actually avoid all those punches and still get his own work done and overwhelm opponents.
3. The true power to really end a fight early with opponents at 147 ..
If he of been at 147 for more of his career, had kept his speed and maybe taken advantage of a little more power that comes with moving up weight.. And perhaps a little more defence while getting in close to fighters,,, I think he could have succeeded a lot more....
Overall though, for his attributes he got the most out of himself and his career and I have huge respect for that...
Hatton is just too short to fight the best at WW. His reach is dwarfed by practically everyone. He will always be having to overcome natural size deficiencies. A couple of inches taller and he could do it, but he's something like five foot five. 140 is as far as Ricky can go. If a rematch is to happen then it simply cannot be at 147. Hatton has realised and admitted twice that its too big for him. To do it a third time would be mad. I would love to see Hatton: Mayweather at 140 but Mayweather would never agree to it. Unless......the money can talk. Unlikely though.
I would prefer to see Floyd fighting the names at 147 really. But I like Hatton and wouldnt begrudge him having a second shot. Just seems 147 gives Floyd the power edge though.
Lol !! Just my opinion bro..i'm wrong quite a bit so it's possible, i just don't see any threat to floyd right now. Each of them has thier reasons why they could beat floyd...i'm just convinced none of them will. No sunshine here though, floyd could loose to de la hoya and i wouldn't loose an ounce of sleep, now if and now to often when let's say the broncos loose you could catch me getting upset. We'll just see how it plays out, i haven't been wrong picking floyd yet. Before the fights his opponets are always too big, too strong, just as fast, too much pressure etc....after the fights his opponets are too old, past thier prime, out of thier weight class etc.....a fan of floyd's not really, but a fan of boxing i am. And since he's the best and pretty much reckonized as so by boxing itself i like him, not any more or less than almost all boxers besides ruiz, tarver, and layla. Actually if i were forced to buckle down and pick a fav due to some new law or something crazy it'd probably be berto. And even then i could watch them two fight and be happy with the result reguardless. Right now it's all just speculation, but if floyd does loose in the near future everyone feel free to rub it in as much as you like, all anti-floyd fans would after all this time deserve that and i'll take it lol!!

I couldnt wish for Ricky to be stopped. I dont even like to see him lose.
Ricky deserves credit. He has always stepped up to the plate and tried to fight the best. He was a huge underdog against Kostya and look what happened there. Revisionists and haters will always try to discredit a fighter. He didnt need to go up to welterweight and fight Collazo but he did. Collazo was much bigger than Hatton physically. Hatton ground out the decision. And then Mayweather. Hatton was fighting the best fighter in the world and outside his own weight class again. He had to make the fight. Ricky has a big heart, he had to try and topple Floyd. For 6 rounds it WAS competitive. The point deduction was a farce. A farce as bad as Barrera not being scored a knockdown against Marquez. Hatton fought the wrong fight that night though and Mayweather put him away.
Hatton has come back and won convincingly. Only a hater could begrudge that because Hatton is a heck of a guy with a lot of heart. I hope he is able to look good in his next couple of fights and if a rematch with Mayweather happens then so be it. You cannot blame Ricky that Mayweather would prefer to fight him instead of Cotto. Nobody should be hoping Ricky gets knocked out for that reason either. Hatton is very good, and he gets too much stick around here.
After getting this kind of punishment from Lazcano, I hope Hatton reconsider his quest for a Mayweather rematch and instead refocus his attention on the challenge of the very much smaller Pacquiao...
