Haye isn't the type of fighter that wears fighters down for the simple reason his stamina just isn't that good. Skelton's style is built on wearing fighters down to take over in the 2nd half. I would like to see how Haye would cope with the rough style of Skelton should Skelton get him past 6th round.
Looks like Haye has signed with Golden Boy and could be fighting Rahman next.
Boxing News : David Haye Signs With Golden Boy, Hasim Rahman Next?
No he didn't wear down Mormeck he caught Mormeck with one shot that turned out his lights, wouldn't say he wore down Mormeck but Mormeck's stamina is also suspect. He did wear out Fragomeni but lets remember Skelton's style is made to wear opponents down in 2nd half of the fight, and because Skelton is much bigger physically it takes a lot of steam out of you when you have a big physcial boxer like Skelton leaning on you. Im not saying Haye can't wear down opponents but that isn't really his style he looks for one big shot to KO his opponents like he has done in majority of his fights. Like i said it will be interesting to see how Haye will cope should Skelton get Haye past the 6th round.
The end was sudden but he spent 7 rounds smashing Mormeck with heavy shots, especailly to the body, which must have been beneficial to the finishing blows.. so I would class it as wearing him down
As for Skelton - I see your point, but Haye should (would) have too much skill and speed.
Skelton would be a decent fight for an opener, he could prove a point by beating him more comprehensively than Chagaev. Skelton doesn't really have the power or speed to bother Haye but you might get a good few rounds out of him, he's certainly as credible an opponent as Rahman is at the moment.
I disagree that Skeltons style is made to wear his opponents out in the 2nd half of the fight. Look at the Chagaev fight..in the second half of the fight, Skelton he was done. He had nothing on his punches and was just leaning all over Chagaev. I agree that if he leans on Haye it will take a lot out of him but when Skelton leans too much it is because he is tired and fucked. Definitely no chance of a knockout from Skelton in my eyes..Haye's chin might be suspect but he won't get knocked out by Skelton. Matt's a big boy but doesn't have much power or technique..just a lot of weight behind him. Haye will have too much class and know what to do with him.
As said the reasons for haye not to take this on are endless, he would now be much better off relocating to america and working his way up through the ranks there rather than fight a couple of bums over here and then get a world title shot cast upon him.
America will love haye that im sure of. cocky, arrogant and packs a hell of a punch.
Whats the point in seeing him beat on ordinary british heavyweights when he can be over in america doing the ground work towards a mega fight with klitschko!!
why would david haye be interested in the commonwealth title anyway
iT WOULD BE INTERESTING FROM A FANS POINT OF VIEW.
Haye could well blow Skelton away , or he may be worn down by Skeltons brawling tactics as ICE says.
Personally i think Skelton is an average fighter , but he holds a ranking which is a good reason to take the fight for Haye.
Id go for a KO win inside 6 for Haye.
