You can blame Palle. IMO he is stalling Mikkel big time. Making him go after a junior alphabet belt against an unknown. I would not be surprised when he does win it, if he goes back to the steady defenses in Denmark against more unknowns. Palle seems way more interested in guarantee's than risks, and seems to have less faith in Kessler than everyone else.

Kessler is injury prone and you might get 2 fights a year out of him if you are lucky. If he fights another unknown after this guy well you can pretty much guarantee he never will step up again.

the paper championships are as legit as it gets today.

mundine was scared to face him, that aint kesslers fault.

bute rather fights shot former middleweight contenders.

so why not get in the ring with an undefeated prospect from the universum stable in germany.............and if someone wants to give him a belt for it, hey why not.

its not like this will make him ANY LESS a champion than bute is.

remember, the german boxing stable wont bother with a fighter unless he is of a certain quality, so Kessler better bring his A-game.

so all in all, i see not a single thing wrong with this fight being for the wba title. nothing whatsoever.

It will- although Bute is a paper champion, Kessler will be a "regular" paper champion. He is not even fighting for the real paper title, but a secondary version of it, that was striped from another fighter.

It's like in the 1980's WWF when the Million Dollar Man couldn't win a real belt he just started wearing the "Million Dollar Title" :a belt he made up.

So, Anthony Mundine defeated Sam Soliman for the third time on Wednesday to retain his crappy WBA "regular" super middleweight title. Mundine is now expected to vacate the title and Mikkel Kessler is slated to face undeserving Dimitri Sartison for the strap June 21 in Copenhagen. No problem with that really other than this shameful note: Kessler promoter Mogens Palle has been advertising Kessler-Sartison on his Web site as being for the vacant title for weeks -- before it was vacant and ignoring the possibility that Soliman might have won. This entire situation remains thoroughly disgusting. Shame on Kessler and his team and shame on the WBA.
