Former lead singer of The Darkness, a performer with great skill but who doesn't take himself too seriously. He's the anti-Bono....that song "Do it in the Dark" is his solution to Energy Conservation....turn the lights out whilst getting your freak on....it's very funny IMO but most people don't like the falsetto but #1 it's amazing how high the dude can sing and #2 he doesn't pretend to take himself seriously anyway so the fact that all their songs (IMO) are good to listen to is a plus.

"Growing on Me" a song about, love, loss, and perhaps crabs
"Is It Just Me" and "Girlfriend" are some of the funniest/creepiest music videos I have ever seen

Ahhh...I know The Darkness just not leadsingers name...Not a fan of them(big surprise there...),but I can appreciate what they are doing...Though one song of them per day is enough for me...

"The Boss" is pretentious, he's not going to O.D. anytime soon or cause some huge scene somewhere either....I love his music, I hate his politics but that's not why I like him so I don't mind him.
He's the exception and not the rule

Yes you named one...but he's not of the same ilk as Elvis, he's more along the lines of a folk singer with an amp.
But when you look at the history of Rock you get 5 "self-destructive, self-indulgent, sad cases" for every one 1 Bruce Springsteen.
I worked with most big bands in the 70s and 80s in security. The best live band I and a few others who I worked with rated the Best was Queen. Live they were superb.

Obviously, most of the greats have been mentioned-Beatles, Zep, Sabbath, Elvis, etc
As for how they rate- best range(voice)-Elvis, best at jamming, and most talented at every spot-Zep, the best musical geniuses-Beatles.
As for the other arguments-
For me-Oasis is good, not a great.
The Seattle grunge bands i like alot, especially Alice In Chains(alot of their music is depressing I admit).
I like alot of Rock and Metal, and alot of heavy stuff, but I got to give an honorable mention to Van Halen, not to be confused with Van Hagar(although I like Sammy, and they were still good).
The Beatles were the best band ever and will probably never be beaten. Thats the truth.
Only read the last page of this but for me The Beatles are the best band ever. And I'm just a huge huge fan of Oasis, which I know won't be considered as great, but they are to me.
People mentioned "self-destructive, self-indulgent, sad cases", how about Ray Charles! What a legend he was, love his music and he turned his life around without the drugs etc!
