For the love of God Clubber, tell me you're not talking about the Bryan Adams song which was covered by an American Idol contestant.

Just kidding man, I'd never seriously deride someone about the music they liked. Unless it was a lot worse than that.
I think he is talking about Boys of Summer that Don Henley wrote, a fabulous song. Think the Foo Fighters redid it.

EDIT!! Sorry, wasn't paying attention to your highlighted part. Thought you were talking abut Boys of Summer......retard alert, retard alert.

Before that he talks about "Heaven", which was a Bryan Adams hit. Boys of Summer is a great song, I've never heard the Foo Fighters version, but this shitty pop-punk band called the Ataris had a hit covering it. I much preferred the original, but it was quite popular.

Sorry, I posted my reply before you got the edit up. I didn't see it. Don't feel too bad, I spelled "retarded" as retarted earlier in a rep message.

    Here's a few others:

    Hurt - Johnny Cash (NIN)

Mr. Bojangles - Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (Bob Dylan)

Foo Fighters - Baker Street (Gerry Raffarty)

I don't actually know that many covers. So it is good to get a list to judge from. I mean, it was just like 2 years ago I was listening to stuff like Green Day thinking it was awesome, and now I hate them...so...

Would Mr. Breeze by Lynard Shynard be considered a cover, seeing as J.J. Cale wrote it, or? And how about SRV stuff? I mean, most of his songs someone else did first.

I would say it's considered a cover if the artist was not the first to perform it . IE If J.J. Cale had played/published Mr. Breeze, then it's a cover.

The other night I was trying to convince my girlfriend that they should allow boxing in the special Olympics. Maybe Zelenoff could represent his country.

    Some more:

Hallelujah - Rufus Wainwright and Jeff Buckley, both better than the original IMO (Leonard Cohen)

Chris Cornell - Billie Jean (yes, Billie Jean. Originally by Michael Jackson)

Landslide - Smashing Pumpkins (Fleetwood Mac)

I Don't Wanna Grow Up - The Ramones (Tom Waits)

Helter Skelter - U2 (Beatles) - most will probably disagree, but I love U2's version.

Maggie's Farm - Rage Against the Machine (Dylan)

    More to come...

Wrong about Billie Jean, Helter Skelter, and Landslide. Right about the others.

    More for the list:

Gram Parsons/Emmylou Harris - Love Hurts (best version, ever)
    Johnny Cash - Cocaine Blues

More when they come to me.

While the Emmylou harris./Parsons Love Hurts is very good. Nazareth version is quite good as well. I wouldn;t say its better, but I would say Emmylou Harris is probably my favourite female singers and one of the best rock out concerts you can go to.

I'm a big SRV fan. But I can't say if his "Voodoo Child" is better than Hendrix.
