I agree with that completely in theory, but who knows how Winky's aged body would handle going from 170 to 154. That could be ugly, and if he was extremely drained from making the weight things could get interesting. I wouldn't want to see Winky take too many left-hooks to the body.
Everyone acts like Oscar is going to go one without aging........ He is no spring Chicken.

I voted for Winky, he has just been passed over so much in his career, I think win or lose he deserves the big payday.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
Winky has missed his chance, it has to be the winner of Cotto V Margarito at catchweight. I don't believe that PBF has totally wimped out and retired permanently so i expect that fight to happen this year anyway.
Of course he WOULD have, based on any form he showed at 54 or 160 over the last five years.... But he last fought at 170, having put on the muscle, been in a fairly rough physical fight with Hopkins and then has been entirely inactive for almost a year since. Like CFH said, who the hell knows how he'd handle dropping down to 154, where he hasn't fought in quite some time. And of course Oscar isn't going to fight him at middle. I doubt DLH would fight Wright at all honestly, just doesn't seem like one he wants... But if he does, I'd bet it's because he knows Winky won't be able to make 54 and be himself. That leaves Margarito, Williams, Mosley, and possibly the winner of Judah Clottey as likely opponents for DLH. All very winnable fights for Oscar(besides Cotto, which is still winnable) imo.
And who the hell besides Danny G and Diane picked Sergio Mora??
Personally, I would like to see him fight the winner of Cotto/Margarito. It would be the most hypeable match. And a great way to keep Oscar fighting the best.
Here's how I think he would fair against everyone:
vs Cotto: Cotto by stoppage. Cotto would bust him up inside and be too strong/crafty. If he was able to hit Mosley at will, he would do a number on De La Hoya. Cotto can fight backing up and coming forward, southpaw and right-handed, he's just all around SCARY.
vs Margarito: This would be a better match up for Oscar than Cotto IMO. Margarito would take what Oscar has to give but return fire even worse. Margarito only knows how to go forward, but Oscar is a good counter-puncher so the style would mix very well. I wouldn't be surprised if Oscar won here though. But if Margarito gets past Cotto, I would pick him over De La Hoya.
vs Wright: Usually, I would pick Wright to box circles around De La Hoya, but due to his aging and inactivity, I see Oscar winning now. Give Winky a tune-up fight, then he wins a lopsided UD.
vs Shane Mosley: I don't think they should fight again. Shane can still compete with the best in his division. At this stage in their careers, I don't see much changing. Mosley UD.
vs Paul Williams: Williams is too active and too long for De La Hoya. Williams would make Oscar look bad.
vs Sergio Mora: Take this off the list! No one would want to see this! Oscar by UD though.
vs Steve Forbes: Just when I thought Mora would be the worst idea here, Forbes would be even worse.
At this stage in his career, Oscar would lose most of these fights. A prime De La Hoya, would be a different story. If he want's that final victory against a name, he should fight Pacquiao or Hatton. Everyone would think those fights as complete BS, but Oscar did fight Forbes so anything is possible with him.
I went for Winky.
It's logical...Winky's been looking for a fight...Winky beat 2 guys that beat Oscar and fought a close one with his third conquerer...Winky's been up as far as Light Heavy...
Oscar could kill three birds with one stone.
1)Make money in a fight in which he won't get hurt.
2)Have an opportunity off redeeming himself for the Mosely, trinidad and Hopkins losses
3)Fighting a man his own size![]()
