Here are a few of mine:

Higher Group - RCHP (originally Stevie Wonder)

Superstar - Sonic Youth (originally The Carpenters)

Planet Caravan - Pantera (Black Sabbath)

Where Did You Sleep Last Night/Any other cover from Unplugged - Nirvana (originally Ledbelly)

Cat Scratch Fever - Pantera (originally Ted Nugent)

Anything covered by the Beatles...

Under My Thumb - Social Distortion (originally the Rolling Stones)
OK, thou hath blasphemed. I don't even like Higher Ground, but whoever the hell RCHP is did NOT do a better job of it than Stevie Wonder. I've heard the rocked out version and it sucks. Just because you throw in a couple guitars doesn't make a remake better than the original.

That being said, here are my nominees:

Shout, by Disturbed

Word Up, by Korn (I'd say it's more like a tie, though)

Isn't that Creep song by Radiohead a remake?

Hey Joe, by Jimi Hendrix

Landslide, by Smashing Pumpkins (mainly because I can't stand the original singer's voice)
I spelled it wrong twice, brilliant. I know it's Higher Ground, and it was supposed to be RHCP (Red Hot Chili Peppers), not RCHP, and I do think their version is better than Stevie Wonders. Judging by the comparative airplay both songs get, it seems that most people like the Chili's version better.

I can't stand anything by Disturbed, so I have to disagree there, but Hey Joe is one of the best covers ever. Landslide is great too.

Creep is not a remake as far as I know. Thom Yorke wrote it as a sarcastic response to the theme of much of the "grunge" music that was popular at the time.
