What cover songs were better than the original versions?

Really interesting thread ...... further to Lyle's rantings I'd like to nominate Alien Ant Farm for their cover of Jackson's 'Smooth criminal'

(I am not technologically advanced enough to have worked out how to embed video, but I'm sure it'll be on YouTube somewhere)

I also liked Guns N Roses cover of McCartney's 'Live and let Die', plus I thought their cover of Dylan's 'Knocking on Heaven's Door' was better than the original.

I'd agree with the posters that liked Hendrix' version of 'All Along the watchtower' more ....... but Dyan's greatest skill was as a fantastic lyricist and songwriter.

Just to twist the thread a bit .... I liked the Rolling Stones' 'Neptune Remix' cover of 'Sympathy for the Devil' more than the original.

I'm sorry I don't care that Eric is a great muscian/guitarist and all but there is NO way on gods green earth that his version of "I shot the sheriff" is better then Nestas.

"Bob Marley & The Wailers: Legend" is in my top 5 fav. albums
