On a side note, I just read that besides Rubio, a certain someone is being considered as Pavlik's next opponent................Mayorga! Personally, I would love to see that. Ricardo would get hammered but his pre-fight antics are second to none. I would love to see how Kelly deals with it. Entertaining shite!

people on here will know i've said some harsh things about calzaghe and this is why............ he's a bullshitter............. he wants to fight a shot jones, a 40 year old jones, the same roy jones he said wasn't worth fighting 5 years ago when roy said he'd go to wales....... good old joe didn't want the fight and said " ROY JONES IS TO OLD, TO PASTED IT AND HAS BEEN KO'D A FEW TIMES THEREFORE THERES NO NEED TO FIGHT HIM " BUT NOW THAT ROYS 5 YEARS OLDER AND STILL HAS THOSE KO LOSSES ON HIS RECORD BUT IS A EVEN MORE SHOT HE WANTS TO FIGHT HIM

The thing is Pavlik is in his prime and not injured, Calzaghe considers fighting old men like Hopkins and Jones a more rewarding finacially and less dangerous strategy.
He fought an injured Kessler and won, good for him, let's see him in a rematch then! Calzaghe will stay well clear of Pavlik and take the easy money in a fight with a well past his best Roy Jones Jr. ( Joe might get a surprise yet by fighting Jones jr.)

Calzaghe is just a waste of space in 45 fights all he has done is fight old past there best champs or unknowns. He fights and beats Lacy and Kessler which yes are good achievements Kessler more than Lacy by a mile but now he wants to fight another old man.He should fight Pavlik not Jones he kept going on about career defining fights he has only had 2 he gets offered a fight bigger than any he has had he doesn't want it why people rate him so highly i will never know.

Yes he is. Jones has lost 3 of his last six. He is nothing like what he was. Pavlik hurts guys and out boxes them. Enzo and Joe are scared after they witnessed their boy get ripped in half.

Jones didnt need Joe back then. Now the boots on th eother foot and Jones NEEDS joe. Everyone does. He is teh man everyone wants to face including Pav. But Joe is in teh great position of being bale to choose which big name he fights cuz he is on top on the p4p pile now and is undefeated which is summat not even Oscar De La Hoya has .

Joe hasnt got so much a weakness to right hands, just his defence and head movement aint the greatest, he relies on his fitness and awkwardness, his opponents just cant keep up.

He was caught a few times fluch by Kessler and Reid was the only person to take him to a split decision purely from his overhand rights.

Pavlik is much like Kessler but more aggresive, he doesnt have Kesslers defence or chin though, it would be an exciting fight but Knowing full well that Pavlik is a puncher and has a good right, im sure hed be prepared for it.

I agree that Calzaghe just doesnt want anymore hard nights, he is 36 and is the most consistent fighter in a long time, 11 years as a champ, undefeated is a very long time, especially in a sport like boxing.

Joe wants cash and fame now, you cant blame him but if Pavlik really wants to shoot up the p4p rankings and be something special, offer Joe big money and let him fight in Wales where their would be a bigger gate by far, make him an offer he cant refuse.

Froch needs to start by beating a B-level opponent before he jumps up to an A-level guy. Inkin would have a been a start, but let him a beat a Bute or an Andrade. A perfect record against club fighters mean nothing and if Froch was really interested in fighting Calzaghe, he should have stepped up his competition a few fights ago.
