I agree ICB it could come down to who could move the other guy backwards and I would probably give the advantage to Pavlik. Call me crazy but I think Pavlik might have the better footwork too which always plays a key role in these type of match ups. That's been my main criticism of Kessler form the longest time and I'm not letting up on it now. Although it is a lot easier to root for Kessler without his groupies around.
This is just a great fight though, if it was made it would probably be second to Cotto-Margarito in most anticipated fights. Like I said though I'm perfectly fine with Pavlik fighting bums at middleweight for as long as he can because he is such an entertaining fighter I would love to see a guy like him dominate the middleweight division the way Hagler and Hopkins did. He just seems like a middleweight champion to me.
But I wouldn't mind if it meant this fight getting made. Did Kessler fight this weekend? Sartison or whatever? I thought I saw something on that. I would like to see his rebound fight and Pavlik against a true 168 before it was made but either way it's fine.
I say bring on Rubio though, I was actually mildly impressed with Rubio on Telefutura. Not impressed enough to see him last with Pavlik but he has improved a lot from the fighter who I saw a couple years ago. Lots of punches, good jab and towards the end he couldn't miss. He's only like 27 too so it makes sense that he did improve. I would guessed him to be in his late 50's based on the number of wins he had.
After him Grady Brewer.

Two aggresive fighters that search for the straight or overhand right, whilst throwing large volumes of punches.
Kessler although enjoying a size advantage in the trunk and abdomen, coupled with his more advanced movement may be slightly behind in terms of acute punching power. However, as both men are possessed of a considerable quantity of the good stuff a KO is possible from either side.
This is a ight that will have fans salivating either side of the Atlantic and one which will be difficult to schedule a venue for giving that Kessler has not previously fought outside of Europe.
Bring it on.

This fight would be unbelievable
both fighters are essentially knock out artists that as donny has already pointed out will look to throw those big overhand rights.
Kessler would be the heavier puncher at 168 but pavlik will throw more. All about what wins over on the night but ones thing for sure and thats that it would be great entertainment and with JC seemingly now set to retire as a 175 pounder it would be to unify and call themselves the undisputed king of the middle divisions!
This would be an extremely entertaining fight, both guys hit very hard and throw a great 1-2, if any complaint could be lodged against either of these fighters it's that they are fairly mechanical, relying on the 1-2. But how colud that possiblty be a negative from a fans perspective. This fight could almost look like Rock em sock em robots on steroids, very exciting indeed.

LOL that's great! I can see that as well...
Stick there feet down in front of each other, and start mashing the buttons...
I think whoever is more accurate and on point with their counters on the night will come out on top.. With a few nice counters, either fighter will be in a good position to unload their arsenal and do some damage..
Kessler is going to have to know that he's got to punch with everything he's got... The longer your in with Pavlik, the more chance you've got of him knocking you out... Same with like Cotto.. Either do a good job of running from him, or knock the bastard out ASAP.. You don't have any other options..

I just want to see Pavlik fight. Don't care who it is. It could be the pope and I'd still be psyched for it. (And I'm a catholic!)

Now we're talking !
Lets have it! Great fight . I cant think of a fight I wana see more really. Proper fight . No messing . Two young , powerful , strong guys . Make it happen .
Pavlik has a lot to gain. If he fights and KOs the slow moving Kessler. He can demand Joe fight him and Joe's fans will demand it also. Kessler will give him a good fight though, but I think Kelly hits him with everything but the kitchen sink.

Kessler never down Amatuer or pro so if Pavlik could stop him i would be very impressed.

I cringe when I see Mundine's name in amongst these when discussing this division,,, as I know he will never fight anyone worth mentioned at 168, or any other division for that matter...
It's like still mentioning Floyd when listing out the strengths of the WW division.
No fault of yours my man Hammer... You know who I blame..![]()
Thats true but Id say the best of the bunch is Kess - Pav .
Kess was beaten on experience vs Joe. Thats all. We dont know if Pav would have doen any better . This is a real fight and it would say alot about Pav if he accepted the challenge. He was chasing Joe but didnt realise he was open to challenges. Now the hunter has become the hunted . GO KESSLER !
