IBF flyweight Nonito Donaire (19-1, 12KOs) is a free agent with a lot of options. Since his recent split with promoter Gary Shaw, the Filipino champion has received offers for a number of big fights. The most recent is an offer to face WBC/WBA super flyweight champ Cristian Mijares (35-3, 14KOs) of Mexico.
Donaire's manager, Cameron Dunkin, informed MaxBoxing/BoxingScene.com's Steve Kim that Donaire and his father are very interested in fighting Mijares.
"I don't know what we're going to do,"; Dunkin said. "I left it up to the kid and the father. I spoke to them about it today and they're going to let me know. But they're very, very interested in the fight."
Donaire is possibly going to appear on the Miguel Cotto-Antonio Margarito undercard on July 26 in Las Vegas, but the undercard spot is not definite. Mijares is slated to return on August 2 in Michoacán de Ocampo, Mexico. That date can change as well.
