Cotto was nowhere near being in trouble against Mosely. People probably think this way because he switched to his boxer mode in the later rounds which is perfectly fine because his JABS were almost like powerpunches anyways.
Cotto will net get hit this often again because Tony is nowhere near as fast as Mosely.
Cotto by UD!!!

watch cotto-torres or cotto-quintana
Miguel loves fighters that come onto him and fight instead of box. Cotto will bide his time with margarito before picking his opponent off from 4-5 onwards and either stopping him or winning by a UD
I disagree with this i haven't seen the fight in quite sometime but i remember Cotto being buzzed in the 1st half of the 10th round. But Cotto did take his foot off the pedal because he was ahead in the fight which was a bad move IMO, because it almost cost him the fight. I think Cotto will win but he won't be able to take rounds off against Margarito like he did with Shane, he will be made to work hard for 3 minutes of every round, because Margarito gets stronger and stronger as the fight goes on.
I just hope Margarito peaks just at the right time, because we all know Cotto will show up, especially at this weight.
Mosley had a great performance against Cotto, IMO a young Mosley would have lost, but this veteran version of Mosley put up a great fight.
I think being a veteran counts more than speed in plenty of cases.
A young Mosley, especially the one that fought Oscar in their first fight, would have dismantled Cotto. I have watched the Mosley/Cotto fight several times and i see it a draw each time. The Mosley in that fight was considerably slower and not particularly crisp with his punches. Yet he was till able to land on Cotto with regularity. A prime Mosley was fast as lightning and would have landed 4 punches for one of Cotto's.
It's impossible to determine how younger MOsley would have done against Cotto, different fighter, different time. It definitely wasn't a draw, and Cotto definitely can cope with Mosley's main threat which is speed. I think Mosley is a lot stronger now than he used to be and that if anything helped him against Cotto.Compubox was full of shit in the fight, Cotto clearly landed more punches, and MOsley wasn't that much faster. THe difference in his speed from then to now is less than Meldrick Taylor's speed changed in one fight. If you look at Mosley in slow motion his speed is nearly the same, not quite, but nearly.

Your opinion...plenty of other people on this board think different. As far as your ridiculous statement that Shane is stronger now than back in the day...just look at his KO % in recent years. The majority of his knockouts came at his great reign at lightweight. And yes...he was MUCH faster back in the day as well. His bulking up in recent years (legally or not), as well as AGE, took away from his speed, fluidity and crispness on punches.
His "strength" doesn't have as much to do with his KO percentage as his quality of opposition does. His level of opposition went way up after he left 135, obviously his KO percentage is going to go down when that happens. Its not a great mystery. It would just seem logical that he's stronger at 147 than he was at 135.
He knocked out a lot of guys because he was a lightweight not because he had more power. As for his speed, watch it in slow motion at 1/100th speed and count the seconds it takes punches to land for Mosley in Mosley-Cotto then Mosley-Dela HOya I. It is much smaller than you would think. I said nothing about his fluidity at all. Also of course Mosley is stronger now. People reach their physical strength peak far later than they meet their speed peak. Strength peaks in the early 40's, and Mosley has been up to 154. I agree he doesn't have the same crispness on his punches, but he isn't that much worse then when he was younger. Regardless I think Mosley would ahve the same problems with Cotto's timing, sneaky speed, and boxing ability back in his prime almost as much as he did when they fought.
