The rules are there :
2nd to deter foul play.
1st to protect a boxers health.

When a boxer takes a knee, it becomes a health issue, and to purposly throw punches at that stage just has to be disqualified in my book..

To be truely honest, Montell fought brilliantly that fight compared to any of Roy's previous opponents. And actually went a fair way towards earning that win... Even though he was probably heading for a loss with the knockdown, no one had challenged Roy like that before...

If it was one of Roy's lesser opponents taking a knee in the first and Roy getting disqualified like that, then it would have been a lot worse..
Jones had never fought anyone as awkward as Griffin at that point in his career, and because Griffin was as awkward as Jones was, plus because Griffin was short as well made it hard for Jones to land punches, i can't remember what my scorecard was but it was probably even after 8 rounds with the knockdown, Jones in the rematch decided not to try and out box Griffin like he did the first time around, and just went out there and swarmed Griffin straight away and it worked.
