The Arroyo brothers are legit, I've liked what I've seen from both of them.

Of course Warren is our best chance at a medal, but I also really like Gary Russell Jr. especially if there is no Guillermo Rigondeaux. Also Demetrius Andrade has been on an absolute tear winning gold at the World Amateur Championships last year and not ever being threatened really.

If I'm not mistaken (which I usually am mistaken)

I think the US has 9 entrants, only missing out on Super Heavy.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

Sadly i rarely (if ever) hear anything about the canadian team.

Maybe Youngblood will have some info when he comes back. Or if anyone else knows anything, let me know.

We don't have a light heavyweight either as Christopher Downs didn't qualify. Pretty surprising considering light heavy is where the US has picked up the most golds including Andre Ward's in 04.

Downs might be one to watch as a pro though, 6'4 and can use his height pretty well. Never saw his loss though.

Adam Trupish is the only boxer to qualify for Canada as was the case 4 years ago. Never seen him fight though.

    Thanks dude.

That sucks, but i guess its primarily because amateur boxing isnt promoted very well here.

I miss the old days when we had some decent fighters for me to root for. A couple of them (Billy Irwin and Mike Strange) were from Niagara Falls which is close to me.

Yes Canada gives next to no funds to it's amateur program and that's how I know who Trupish is because he has spoken out quite a bit about how little funds they receive.

Ya its pathetic really. We are a fairly rich country and yet we dont seem to give a shit. Its like that for most of our amateur sports.
