I know boxing fans, and I know that even if he were to beat the winner of Cotto-Margarito, that you guys would want him to fight someone else. Deny it up and down if you want, but you know in your heart of hearts that that's exactly what will/would happen, and do you want to know the worst part? You'd probably be screaming for it along with those people.
Yes but your point is that because you don't think those 3 fighters can beat Mayweather you don't think Mayweather should fight them when thats the wrong logic IMO. Because like i said Mayweather has been the favorite for his entire career just like Jones Jr and Whitaker was and he always will be but it doesn't mean he doesn't have to fight the most dangerous Welterweights in the hottest division in boxing at the moment. Im not a Mayweather hater like i said im a Mayweather fan and i have his career set along with his amateur fights, but come on he has to fight to finish his career with at least one victory over Margarito vs Cotto winner. I don't think any real boxing fan will have any complaints if he beats the winner of Cotto vs Margarito, you will still get some haters but you do with every fighter and there the kind of fans that even if a certain fighter they hate beat King Kong they still wouldn't be happy you just ignore ignorant fans like that.

shoot me a link to his amature fights on the pm................ seriously, Ice.
Heres a link to his fight with Augie Sanchez the same Sanchez who fought Naseem Hamed.

See, I can't agree with you there, because I know how things are and how boxing fans work. Based on how you feel and what you know now you may think a win over the Margarito-Cotto winner is a satisfactory end to his career, but a few months after that hypothetical fight took place you may have a completely different opinion.
Yes but i could turn that around and say if Cotto beat Margarito and Williams would you still be satisfied that Mayweather is still retired in say a years time ??
Well, from what I've seen, I don't think any of those three are going to make anyone forget about Mayweather any time soon. In that scenario would I like to see Mayweather-Cotto? Hell yes I would, but that doesn't mean that I think Mayweather has to do it to prove anything.

I don't think he has anything to prove i just want him to seal the deal on his legacy by fighting the winner of Cotto vs Margarito, in the All Time P4P rankings he would go up big time if he achieved that.

When he was coming up? When he was lightweight Mosley was at 147 and by the time Mayweather was 147 Mosley was at 154. So I don't see how he could have fought Mosley. Tezyu got beat by Hatton and Mayweather knocked him out. Casamayor I agree with. Cotto, not so much as he hasn't made a legacy yet to give Mayweather anything for winning, it would be more for Cotto's then for mayweather

That leads me to my theory as to why people are angry and want Mayweather to continue: You don't WANT him to go out on top and undefeated because you dislike him as a fighter, a person, or both. You'd much rather watch him hang around and continue stepping into the ring with the best in the business because you know that sooner or later, one of them is going to catch him on a bad day and tarnish his legacy.

    Thoughts?

I dont know what his legacy is he was World Champ until his Lightweight days and he won titles at 140,147 and 154.

He didnt fight the best he chose a path of least resistance most of his career.

Great fighter with superb skills but a shallow resume. Look at his last 10 fights then compare to a Pacquaio or a Cotto.

Mayweather has nothing left to prove - it's not as confrontational an issue as you'd make it out to be. There's no doubt as to his abilities in the ring.

But - to match the reality of his career to the image he portrays is something that DOES need to be proven, again and again. That's what it means to be one of the true greats in this sport. Just because he probably would beat certain fighters is not a sufficient reason to not fight them. If you follow through with that logic, he never should have stepped into the ring at all - his victory is always a foregone conclusion, so why box at all?

Simple. It has to be proven, again and again. Ever hear of an upset? Sometimes the victory that is a foregone conclusion is snatched away, and that's one of the great things about boxing. It's NEVER a foregone conclusion.

I want him to stay retired, I'm sick of his prima donna whining. He handpicks easy money less risk opponents while his legit contenders waited as he ducked them
