Yeah.. and now those two have come into it

Warren is correct and tbh he did it with Joe.

    BUT!

What gets me are these Hopkins, Jones and Pavlik fans that knock Joe yet there fighters did the same exactly the same.

At least in Joes case when he stepped it up he won

First off dont kid your self Hopkins won that fight. Joe fought british fighters for years and turned down Jones in the many years back becuase of a 30 70 split. This would have been Calzaghe's biggest payday but his people knew he would have gotten beaten. He is facing old fart legends now to try to etch his legacy. He lost to a very out of prime old Hopkins. To me he already has lost. Hopkins lost to the judges not to Calzaghe. Did he really look like he was in a fight. No way at all. And then Calzaghe goes off and says he would knock Kelly out , then sign the fight you coward.

Hopkins never won that fight you clown and Calzaghe is fighting Jones for the money the $$. Why would he fight Mikkel Kessler a far better fighter with more speed and power yet duck ol 1,2?

Enzo, for all of his spouting, is not a stupid person. Lockett is in their stable and he was the test bout for the potential match up of a Calzaghe and Pavlik fight. He gave himself a better then front row seat to have a look, and he knows where Joe is at this point in his career. He also knows how Joe matches with Lockett...for goodness sakes, they are part of the same squad.

And when he grabbed that white towel and tossed it, his wheels were turning and you could see it in his eyes, but not anywhere in the direction of a fight with Kelly that he maybe was looking for, not with what he witnessed. Can't say as I blame him.

Nope. He does not want his son going out a loser, and not with the threat of a punishment in the process. A win over Pavlik would have silenced every doubter, and been a healthy box office draw. Have made his legacy complete...and THEN he could go fight another old guy....aka RJJ and take another big money fight with less risk.

But he saw what we all saw...what Kelly Pavlik is capable of, so shortened Joe's trip to retirement. I think it was a smart move. I would have respected the decision. It made sense. Just too bad they lacked class in the process by trying say Kelly wasn't good enuff. HA!

That is the only reason us who like Kelly have our feathers ruffled. We weren't calling Joe a ducker, or anything of the sort...until their camp opened their mouth with such foolishness.

So yea, whatever Joe and Enzo. Bawk Bawk. Go fight your old man fight and retire, and good luck.

    spot on fella

sure enzo is joes coach but he is also joes father and putting him in at this late stage of his career with a man who he has seen at first hand has the ability to really hurt someone just isnt gonna happen.

Remember enzo screaming at lockett between rounds to stop fighting in straight lines the very sort of thing he is often telling joe. Once that towel went in enzo not only forfeited the fight for the sake of gary lockett but also sacrificed any potential meeting between kelly and joe.

    As for warren:

The guys the most succesful british promoter of the last 20 odd years, you cant knock him for that.

But i`ll always remember him as the man who held calzaghe back year after year yet jumped at the opportunity to put bruno back in with tyson knowing full well what mike was capable of
    one dangerous horrible bloke

Kessler isnt that great. He does not have the power of Pavlik. He does not have the power behing the jab like Pavlik. Pavlik is never off balance. Pavlik is hard to hit at times. I think Lockett landed flush maybe once the whole fight with zero effect but every time Pavlik grazed Lockett's head he went down. This is a guy who tore through Euro middle weights and has never been knocked out. Same with Taylor, Miranda and Iron head Zurtuche. Pavlik bats away punches a skill that is almost not scene any more. Trust me if Hopkins can put Joe on his ass Kelly with the way harder straiter punches will put him down time and time again and to sleep. Dont kid your self your boy is a coward. I bet
Roy Jones can beat him. He probably will.

    Stop kidding yourself

Lockett was never good enough to get a European title shot.

He was ONLY matched with Pavlik to give him an easy nights work. NO-one on earth gave Lockett a hope in hells. In fact, he did far better than expected taking it into the 3rd round.
