The Republicans and Democrats practice similar politics....but according to voting records Barack Obama is the one towing the Party line AND apparently he feels he must come to the center to win a general election.....if he really was a "transcednent" candidate he would just stick to what he said in the primaries.

That's the truth. Shame we can't scrap the whole system and start over again.

Maybe we could find Plato's enlightened monarch out there somewhere? He's probably living it up in the Caribbean, drinking margaritas and watching the girls dance by.

Exactly there are no real alternatives. And its only a hope that the opposition might bring serious change. Its quite feasible that China and the US are no different. They implement the image of freedom but the reality isnt all that free at all. China as a system of restriction is rising and the US as a system of democracy whilst all the politicians rake in their money on boards is trying to maintain itself.
