I remember they booed Juanma when his fight went the distance (I believe it was his last that went the distance). The fans should have realized that going the distance and winning was part of the process of maturing as a boxer for Juanma. In Santos case, he had shoes to follow like Tito and Cotto. He will never be as popular, but certainly worthy of respect from his countrymen. A fight with Mora might be intriguing stylistically.
Guilty as charged, Rican. But having said that, Santos in the past hasn't helped his own cause with some periods of lackadaisical training and inactivity. PR Punch DID say some of it was due to promoter issues. But he needs to get his butt in gear and resolve those issues if he wants to continue on top and join the upper echelon with the Trinidads and the Cottos.
Can't argue with you since you are correct. But I would say that the promoter thing is holding him back these days more than his level of commitment. For example, why wasn't this last fight and the one against Rivera on television? I guess Santos needs to be more vocal. When you stand up to King, he seems to give you what you want.
