When did we ever see Jones fight anyone like McClellen?

Gerald McClellan’s record at Super Middle weight was
Fights = 1
Won = 0 / Lost = 1 / Drawn = 0
They are the facts.
He could not KO Benn who didn't have the greatest chin in the world, but people say Benn was hypnotised by Paul McKenna before the fight. I think they are right because he should have been knocked out by some of the shots he took, but he took them and gave some back, that's the thing with home run hitters like McClellan. You name them, be it, George Foreman, Mike Tyson, Kostya Tszyu or Julian Jackson. They have one thing in common they are great 'On Top' fighters. They are bullies who rely too much on the power. It's a bit like a huge server at tennis. Sure, having a huge serve will win a lot of games and tournaments but it won't be enough to beat the best out there on a consistent basis as he/she does not have an all round game to do so .
I think that's what McClellan and other huge punches find out, that there are also many other fighters out there who have huge ability to take your punch and comeback, and drag you into a war where your power does not mean anything and THEN it’s about heart, courage and desire. Qualities they have never had to use before as there power covered up a lot of fundamental cracks. Maybe McClellan would have KO-ed RJJ but I doubt it, he would have been too fast too sharp and hit too hard for him.
On a final point, I always feel uncomfortable talking about the G-Man. As we all know as I am writing this and you’re reading this he is most likely sitting somewhere in Freeport, Illinois virtually blind, not fully able to walk or fend for himself. His life as a normal functioning human being is over, forever. So to talk about his boxing ability seems some what trivial.
I truly believe jones on his day is one of the greatest talents in modern day boxing.
He could fight you at range
He could fight you on the inside
He hit harder than anyone of his generation
He had a great defense
He could throw endless combos without taking a single shot
McClellan was a great great fighter. But both in their prime results in a RJJ stoppage!!
one dangerous horrible bloke
Toney being weight-drained is probably exaggerated. The guy is just lazy in the gym and at the dinner table. All the talk prior to the fight was how Toney had improved being at 168. He was winning his title-fights in much more convincing fashion than at 160, where he had a few close fights where he could've lost. Then after the Jones fight, out comes the weight-draining excuse.
Toney then was much better than the natural 154 lb., detached-retina having Julian Jackson.
Easy win for Jones IMO.
Apart from power what has the G-Man got to offer?![]()
Balls
First up, Tyszu-Hatton Benn was not helped back into the ring in anyway at all, watch the tape the staff put there hands up but thats it none of them helped him into the ring, end of story this has cropped up a number of times now and its simply not true. Benn could have been stopped for any number of reasons in round 1 but that isnt one of them.
What does Mcllelan bring to the tableOnly that he beat RJJ in the amatuers, hardly the sign of a 1 dimensional slugger you lot are making him out to be. So dont be so quick to lick RJJ's balls please and tell me G-man had NO chance.
