I think if Kelly fights and beats Hopkins, then the fight with Joe will become more lucrative. A win over Hopkins is never easy and it would prove Pavlik is for real.

Great post.. It will totally shut any type of Calzaghe banter up.. Like when he said Pavlik hasn't earned a chance.. well if he beats Hopkins who Calzaghe BARELY beat, while Pavlik is only 26, especially if Pavlik wins by KO, then, man, Calzaghe will almost HAVE to fight Pavlik, or else he'll be under even more criticism than he already has been..
The fight is happening at 170 on October 18th.

It is funny how Calzaghe fans were commending Joe for fighting Hopkins and saying how great the win was. Now Pavlik lines up the Nard and some of the same ppl criticise him for fighting an old over the hill man.....
I just read that Mosley-Mayorga got pushed to Regular HBO for Sept 27... Now that is good news.

Pavlik/ Hopkins is an intriguing mtch up. The current middleweight champ against one of best former middleweight champs.
Youth against experience.
Also it seem to set up the winner for a bout with the winner of Calzaghe/ Jones perfectly!
All I want to know is WTF is Wright doing? He should have done everything possible to get the fight with Pavlik!
The Best There Is, The Best There Was, The Best There Ever Will Be
I would still like to see Pavlik Wright,Calzaghe and Abraham some time with in the next two year window.

Here's Pavlik's response regarding this fight, that he gave to his local newspaper.
Pavlik may say aloha to Hopkins - Vindy.com News - Sports - Youngstown, Warren, Columbiana, Ohio
If Calzaghe wasnt craft enough to beat Hopkins by a big margin, i dont see how Pavlik can beat him at all
Thats cricket
This fight aint a lot.
Okay, i know Hopkins is a marquee name still but am i wrong in saying that Pavlik must realise that he's a Marquee name now?
I read some where that Pavlik aint exactly interested in the fight. If so then fight someone else. Who needs Hopkins now anyway?

If you asked the average American who is Bernard Hopkins, or who is Kelly Pavlik, I'm not sure you'd find the same. Im from Canada and some of my friends(who know I'm into boxing) ask me about Hopkins from time to time. Don't really know why, but they know of him, and definetly not Pavlik. I think Hopkins is still a factor for whatever reason, wish he'd just retire to but there's probably noone else out there Pavlik could make near as muchy money fighting soon.
This fight makes sence, Pavlik is after an opponent Hopkins is a name, he is looking to test the waters above 160lbs. And im willing to bet that HBO have struck a deal between Calzaghe and Pavlik already.
Calzaghe all of a sudden states he will fight again at 168 a few days later Pavlik announces he will fight Hopkins at 170?
The only people that have a problem with this bout are Kellys fans, they know this is a tough bout.
His ass better get interested in fighting that old man or he's going to end up losing. If Pavlik comes in focused and in shape, He will have a late Ko over Hopkins, I know everyone saying that you can't knock out Hopkins..... Everyone can get knocked out like Mercer,Tyson,David Tua in the Amatuers and Holyfield. Also didn't a lot of Pavlik's last fighters never been knocked down before like Taylor, Zuetuche and some others. Don't be surprised if Hopkins takes a nap Oct 18th.
