Hopkins mk 2002 would be much easier for Calzaghe to handle than the 43yo version.
Hopkins would have opened up and traded and got hit, i dont think the 2002 version of Hopkins would beat Winky Wright.
Not easy to beat a guy that throws a punch then holds a headbut then hold.
It was Joes career worst diplay and he still beat the guy at a new weight. Need to stop dogging Calzaghe your wrong in everything you say and you can make shitty arguments about every great fighters resume.
I dont know but the fight was agreed on, and why is it a given that a european based fighter has to travel to America?
If terms were agreed it wouldnt matter where im sure Hopkins and HBO would demand an American referee and an American judge. A luxury travaling fighters dont have when they fight in America.
I dont want this to keep going on Calzaghe is a great fighter if you disagree fine be wrong.

When Calzaghe got a true threat he kept pulling out and that was against Glenn Johnson.

My whole thing about Joe is his style of fighting and his opposition.
He brags about his volume of punches but the thing is, they're not punches! If he so called landed the most punches on Hopkins than anyone ever has, why didn't Hopkins face have anything to show for it? He slaps..
His opposition is highly debated. Joe's fans think they were great fighters, Joe haters think they weren't ready or too old. I personally think Lacy was a great performance but Lacy was all hype, Kessler was only big for his fight with Joe because the media hyped him up, Hopkins is WAY PAST IT and still put up a difficult fight for Joe. Now he's going to fight Roy Jones at this stage, it's hard for me to give him REP for that (lol). The worst part of it all is he's calling himself a "legend killer!" C'mon man! He sure wouldn't be called that had he fought them years ago.
Don't get me wrong, I may not like someone but I do respect them. I give him credit for being undefeated, unifying the division, holding two ring belts at once. But I do think there are fighters out there that are P-4-P better. I do poke fun at him every now and then, but as an adult, this is why I am not a fan of Calzaghe.

Bernard Hopkins was a legend before Calzaghe and more than likely the higher rated fighter p4p and therefore Joe comes to the US and Bernard doesn't go to HooliganLand.
I'm being fair RJJ and Hopkins didn't take MANY chances but they did take some chances...RJJ went up to heavyweight, fought Tarver after being at heavyweight...B-Hop fought Jermain Taylor twice when he didn't really have to, he fought Winky Wright and Tarver and revived his career at 175.
Calzaghe has only JUST come to America and he fought Peter Manfredo within his last 5 fights for fucks sake! Prime my ass....that is fucking WEAK

Manfredo was a HBO opponent they wanted the fight so it got signed.
As for Calzaghe has only JUST come to America its crap why does he have to go there to prove himself? he is the champ he is now the marquee fighter and a ring is a ring. As for Manfredo yer he was a bum but a mainstream name Kelly Pavlik just fought Lockett. And as for this last five fights rubbish i`ll remind you that the former P4P king Floyd Mayweather fought Sharmba Mitchell and Carlos Baldomir in his last 5 fights. Why because there were a means to an end.
