When Calzaghe got a true threat he kept pulling out and that was against Glenn Johnson.

If Calzaghe was that great why would most boxing experts rank Roy Jones as the best Supermiddle of all time when he only had 6 world title fights at that weight and Calzaghe has had 23??

My whole thing about Joe is his style of fighting and his opposition.

He brags about his volume of punches but the thing is, they're not punches! If he so called landed the most punches on Hopkins than anyone ever has, why didn't Hopkins face have anything to show for it? He slaps..

His opposition is highly debated. Joe's fans think they were great fighters, Joe haters think they weren't ready or too old. I personally think Lacy was a great performance but Lacy was all hype, Kessler was only big for his fight with Joe because the media hyped him up, Hopkins is WAY PAST IT and still put up a difficult fight for Joe. Now he's going to fight Roy Jones at this stage, it's hard for me to give him REP for that (lol). The worst part of it all is he's calling himself a "legend killer!" C'mon man! He sure wouldn't be called that had he fought them years ago.

Don't get me wrong, I may not like someone but I do respect them. I give him credit for being undefeated, unifying the division, holding two ring belts at once. But I do think there are fighters out there that are P-4-P better. I do poke fun at him every now and then, but as an adult, this is why I am not a fan of Calzaghe.

Who is most boxing experts? most have Calzaghe at number 1.

Mayweather only had 3 title fights at 147, will he go down as an all time welterweight? yes he will.

    Lame arguments 4real.

hmmm may have something to do with the fact that roy is american and joe is welsh, just a thought perhaps. Anyways have fun arguing with yourselves and calling joe crap because to criticize him and say he's not that great is a reasonable thing to do cause heck people will disagree but to call him crap shows that someone's just a hater so I'll leave this thread alone...

If you're Calzaghe you go to the US to fight Roy Jones Jr. at 175 earlier because #1 RJJ was the #1 pound for pound fighter in the world and #2 he was one of the most popular fighters in the world.

If he beat RJJ in like 1998-2000 then hell the sky is the limit but if he beats him now he does NOTHING for his legacy but if he loses then he shows he really was a protected fighter...Kessler is good but was still green when he fought Joe much like Jeff Lacy was although Mikkel had better fundamentals.

Calzaghe said neither Hopkins nor Jones wanted to fight him, in Hopkins case we know this to be true with Jones we can only assume it to be true.

Look at the guys Roy was fighting 1998-2002 why would you take the risk in fighting Calzaghe who at the time held nothing when you could beat up on cans for the same?

Facts are Calzaghe was not known in the US HBO would not go for it and he also had nothing for Jones or Hopkins to fight for no name no marketability nothing.

That of course changed when Joe beat Lacy because he was introduced to a US audience in a big way and immediatly drew attention from both Showtime and HBO who prior had never shown a Calzaghe fight live.

As for Kessler being green the guy was a great amature won two world titles and had 39 fights, if thats green in a Chinaman.
Well if Calzaghe says he tried to make a fight with Hopkins and Jones years ago it must be true
Just like he said his next fight was the winner between Pavlik and Taylor. I can get you the video of him saying it.

Ledgend killer my ass. A split decision and getting floored and hurt several times but failing to do the same to your opponet isnt a killer perfomance. Its more like a robbery.

Just like he said his next fight was the winner between Pavlik and Taylor. I can get you the video of him saying it.

He did say that but things change quickly in boxing and money talks.

    Pavliks time will come.

    Not a chance.

Heard it all before, Lacy is gonna knock him out, Kessler is gonna knock him out. Didnt happen and they are bigger punchers real 168lb fighters and in Kesslers case a league above Mr 1,2.

He would kill Carl Froch though.

Yup, ol man Johnson couldnt put a dent in Sheika and lost right before Joe battered him and stopped him in the 5th

That hardly sounds like a dangerous opponent, only if you have a glass jaw like Jones though
