I don't think Floyd is permanently retired.

The only thing that drove Floyd into retirement IMO was Floyd's own inflated ego and worth.

Once he realizes he is not a billionaire likes he think he is, he will be back.

You will see him fight in 2009 folks.

I cannot fathom Floyd having a fear of losing. He enjoyed way too much success and does not know what losing feels like. Don't believe for a second that he fears Cotto. He knows Cotto is risky business, but he does not think he can lose to him.

He will get bored and come out for more. Just give him some time.

He's going to pull some Sugar Ray Leonard stuff by unretiring but he's going to get a rude awakening if he fights EITHER Cotto or Toni.

Those guys have put their careers on the line more than Floyd EVER has or ever has even thought of doing!

Shane Mosley, Paul Williams, Carlos Quintana, Cintron, Clottey....Floyd never got near those guys and he had ample opportunity and REASON to fight them (some more than others but they are far more dangerous than Ricky Hatton as a welterweight)

Still, if Mayweather fought all these guys and beat them, which I am pretty sure he would, I can imagine people would still be crying about him not facing X or Y "Oh, buf if he fought X he would definitely loose...". It just never ends, does it? Happens to any boxer that dominates like Mayweather.

Yes, there will always be people who will criticize Floyd no matter what. However, if he were to beat an undefeated Cotto in the next 12 months or so, I think just about all intelligent boxing fans would give Floyd his just due.

I wonder the same, would boxing fans give Floyd credit? I wonder where all the people that started anti-Floyd threats would go. This forum would be pretty quiet for at least a few weeks knowing how Cotto is very popular here.

Intelligent boxing fans would give him his due, but a lot of guys on here wouldnt.......
If he beat Hatton he was meant to get his due but never did. I think it will be never ending as long as there are guys on here who hate him.

I for one thinks he beats Cotto, but if Miguel was to win I'd admit i was wrong and give him his due.

That is all we have been asking for. Hell if he would have put on a clinic with Mosely I would have given him just due.

See, at the moment, there are only two fighters Floyd should fight and that is Cotto and Margarito (not Oscar AT ALL). So if Floyd beat those two, the logical and reasonable fight fan would say there is nothing else for Floyd to prove and would accept his retirement. Sure, Floyd has won belts in all those weight divisions, but not always against the elite. So he has accomplished a lot, but not always fought the best while accomplishing a lot, especially in the last three years. But I don't care about any of that. As a fight fan, I want to see Floyd against Cotto or Margarito or even Shane as opposed to Floyd vs Gatti, Baldomir, and Oscar.

Arum is so full of it.

Yeah, it was Cotto who drove Mayweather to retirement, when Mayweather was set to make another $20+ million against De La Hoya.

Mayweather could've fought De La Hoya again, made another huge payday, and then retired. Who passes on an opportunity to make another $20 million plus? As said before, someone with a ridiculous inflated ego and delusions about his box-office appeal.

Arum is just playing Carnival barker for what he hopes will come to be match up. I think Cotto is convinced he does not need Mayweather but they both should (I know Cotto Is) have full focus on Margarito

And I will put Money on Mayweather Un-"retiring".....yawn.
