Still, if Mayweather fought all these guys and beat them, which I am pretty sure he would, I can imagine people would still be crying about him not facing X or Y "Oh, buf if he fought X he would definitely loose...". It just never ends, does it? Happens to any boxer that dominates like Mayweather.

Yes, there will always be people who will criticize Floyd no matter what. However, if he were to beat an undefeated Cotto in the next 12 months or so, I think just about all intelligent boxing fans would give Floyd his just due.

I wonder the same, would boxing fans give Floyd credit? I wonder where all the people that started anti-Floyd threats would go. This forum would be pretty quiet for at least a few weeks knowing how Cotto is very popular here.

Intelligent boxing fans would give him his due, but a lot of guys on here wouldnt.......
If he beat Hatton he was meant to get his due but never did. I think it will be never ending as long as there are guys on here who hate him.

I for one thinks he beats Cotto, but if Miguel was to win I'd admit i was wrong and give him his due.

Mayweather retired because he is an attention seeker. He retired for attention and he will return for attention.

Floyd was probably the best pound for pound, however, for some reason he by himself is not a big ticket seller, until recently. We all know how De La Hoya and Hatton can sell. I am not saying Floyd does not have fans because he has a lot, but there have been more exciting boxers for which the people was really willing to pay. I think Floyd is just waiting for other big name to raise and take advantage of that opportunity and make the money he did not do during the inactivity period. I think he is looking for a few big fights rather than many smaller ($$$) fights. If Cotto beats Margarito, and his promoters can reach an agreement with De La Hoya for a fight, and Cotto wins again, I think that will be sufficient to make Floyd return to the ring and fight Cotto. However, De La Hoya seems to be looking for "glory" fighting smaller size boxers like Manny that may represent less risks at WW than Cotto.

I believe that De La Hoya would be more willing to fight Ivan Calderon than Cotto

That is all we have been asking for. Hell if he would have put on a clinic with Mosely I would have given him just due.

Come on dude. You try to be fair and begin threads about "your honest opinion about Margarito," but it is clear that your distaste for Tony goes beyond what he can do in the ring. I believe my man Cotto has enough boxing skill and power to win a 12 round decision. But I also give Margarito a great chance. I don't believe I am an idiot. I hope your confidence in Cotto is 100% correct, but you need to give Tony some respect. Cotto will for sure by "boxing."

See, at the moment, there are only two fighters Floyd should fight and that is Cotto and Margarito (not Oscar AT ALL). So if Floyd beat those two, the logical and reasonable fight fan would say there is nothing else for Floyd to prove and would accept his retirement. Sure, Floyd has won belts in all those weight divisions, but not always against the elite. So he has accomplished a lot, but not always fought the best while accomplishing a lot, especially in the last three years. But I don't care about any of that. As a fight fan, I want to see Floyd against Cotto or Margarito or even Shane as opposed to Floyd vs Gatti, Baldomir, and Oscar.

One fact to remember is that every time Cotto is asked about Floyd not fighting him or Floyd's retirement, Miguel has been very diplomatic while spewing the "I fight whoever the company puts in front of me" line. The ones clamoring for the fight to happen is the promoter Arum because of the financial possibilities, and the fans, because of entertainment possibilities. In a way, Cotto's noncomittal responses make others clamor for the fight more. It's almost like Cotto is saying: "I know he should fight me, but he won't," which makes fans kind of side with Cotto and lean towards Floyd being afraid or wanting money first fame later.
