Paul Williams won the 12th round.

Im not making excuses for Margo's loss to Williams he clearly lost and does need to rematch Williams regardless of Saturdays fight especially if he losses, but towards the back end of that fight MArg was pouring it on and was actually catching alot of Williams' shots literally. That shows incredible timing. But if we do assume that Williams has the recipe for defeating Tony, that recipe consists of throwing more shots than Tony and being able to fight alot more form the outside due to his height...not Cotto specialties.
    The key is Self-discipline.

no maybe not specialities of his but he is very adaptable and if he has trouble with Margarito I expect him to figure out a way around him in time to win a UD

Well theres few reasons why Antonio Margarito come on late Paul Williams threw 100 plus punches in the first 6 rounds and tired after his amazing workrate in the first 6 rounds but Williams did get 2nd wind in the last two rounds plus Antonio Margarito is a slow starter and he was swamped in activity i think Antonio Magarito always struggles with Paul Williams because Williams is the only top Welterweight who has a big height advantage plus he is the only Welterweight who can outwork Antonio Margarito.

and the question arose about margarito being the number 2 welter?..

Because for me.. I know tony could have beaten williams..

i saw the way he took the late rounds, he won back a lot of rounds and he suffered because he didnt do the tornado thing which is HIS thing and started somewhat late..

so i dont discount him as the number two welterweight..

but eventually the records have to show and paul got the decision whether i think tony could have and should have made himself win the fight.

So after this.. maybe its the winner fights paul williams.. its interesting on both sides.. this is THE fight because its gona be war..

but theres more to be determined..

i would like to see margarito go and avenge the loss to Paul.. whether he beats cotto or not..

i would like to see cotto fight paul too but this for me is not as important..

its all a lot to go round in the head but for me with all due respect i couldnt name tony number one if he was to win saturday without avenging the loss.. just because he needs that single W which he should have gotten for himself first time round..

where as if cotto wins im happy saying.. Numero uno cause rather then him having been in with paul atall i still predict he would beat paul before actually having to face off with him.. whether he does or not is a different matter for a later date.

I still don't see Margarito beating WIlliams unless Paul has a problem making weight. It wasn't that Tony started slow it was that Williams was throwing a lot of punches, and he was moving too much for Margarito to be able to a lot of punches.

Margarito is a good fighter, but IMO there are a few people in the division who are better than him, or will be soon enough. I have Mosley, IN the near Future Berto, Williams, Cotto, ODLH as fighters who IMO should beat Margarito almost everytime they step into the ring with him, not necessarily by a landslide, but they would win more times than not.

Taeth I have a theory that Margarito beat you up as a child.

    lol

I think Taeth is pretty much right except about DLH who in his prime would wipe the floor with Margarito but has poor stamina now and I think that would be a very close fight.

But overall I think Taeth just overrates athleticism in fighters a bit to much and that's why he's not high on guys like Margarito or Pavlik.

Congratualations to both fighters for making a classic.

My respects to margarito and his fans.
