It's a bit ritch you saying all that when you constantly slag off Joe Calzaghe despite the fact that he's been in and won 3 genuinley 50/50 fights in the last 2 years or so. Joe is also the number 1 super-middleweight and light-heavyweight in the world.

I guess what goes around comes around.

    3 50/50 fights in 2 years

Yeah obviously i meant Bika and Mafredo....

Lacy, Kessler and yes 'old man' Hopkins.

Say what you like bout Hopkins but there was still plenty of people on here backing Bernard.

Anyway don't want this thread to turn into a Calzaghe/Cotto slanging contest because i'm no big fan of either. My point is TysonBruno seemed a little bit confused as to why people were being negative towards the #2 147lber in the world who lost a 50/50 fight, yet he bashes (practically on a daily basis) the #1 168/175lber who has had 3 50/50 (or there abouts) fights in the last 2 and half years.

You're surprised that an unbeaten top P4P fighter is getting "quite" a negative reaction after LOSING?

Well here's the deal Miguel Cotto is 27 and he isn't playing it safe with his career this fight with Margarito COULD end his career as we know of it (I doubt it will because he's a good boxer and has good power and heart). Joe Calzaghe took a risk fighting Chris Eubank (at least his fans say it was a risk) when Joe had 22 pro fights under his belt and the next big risk he took was 9 years later.

Miguel Cotto fought a host of unbeaten fighters which people were pretty high on: Mausa, Pinto, Torres, and Quintana. Quintana for his first fight at 147 was a HUGE risk as Joel Julio got beat by him a fighter people may have compared to Cotto. Then for Cotto to fight Mosley, Judah, and Margarito too all before he's really reached his best....that's impressive.

In this day and age it would be EASY for Cotto to be like Floyd Mayweather Jr. and fought guys he knows he can beat but Miguel is better than that he wants to be challenged and he wants to fight big fights and he's done that time after time.

Joe Calzaghe was just stubborn and it was stupid on his part because he could have fought Hopkins and Roy Jones earlier if he came to America as those guys were the top draws but noooooo he wanted to stay at 168. If you want to compare Lacy and Kessler to prime RJJ and Hopkins then fine but I will have to disagree with you.

Lost his heart? Are you on drugs? Now Cintron lost his heart, he gets hit hard ONCE and goes down....Cotto got hit big in every round and tried to trade with Margarito.....11 rounds with Margarito is tough stuff, Cotto has plenty of heart!

Cotto even fighting him shows he's not a guy who will back down from anyone win or lose

LOL people are so stupid they are talking like if tha fight was one sided. Cotto hit that chin at will with all he got in all rounds including the 11 round Cotto hit him as well stop be such a morons.

Cotto is an outstanding fighter and he proved that the other night. He got beat by a very strong fighter and with him being cut and tierd and Margarito coming on very strong in the final strech it was bound to happen. Its a shame because he looked amazing out there at the start. He needs a few wins under his belt and go back after Margarito. He shouldnt do it too early he needs to get his confidence back! If he fought like he did for the first six rounds against ANY 147 fighter he would beat them, mark my words.

People are not being negative about Cotto, it's the hardcore fans that are simply being gay.

You can't go backwards in life. Sure he beat some good fighters...but that was then...this is now. After the Margaretto fight some serious questions have to be asked. How will he respond in his next match? He took a nasty beating. You can become a shot fighter overnight. Right now, Cotto is a fighter who got his ass beat bad. He has to prove himself all over again. You can't look at him with the same eyes as before...everything has changed. Chazky

I love Cotto but there is one dude erm.. Cottowillreturn and whenwewere or summit like that its the same moron. A few quotes:

"Marg didnt beat Cotto, Cotto beat Cotto"
"Marg is a bum with a chin"
"Marg is a gloryfied clubfighter that got lucky"

9/10 have been very humble i like Cotto and his fans.

In no way did Cotto quit.

But looking at him coming out for the 8th he did look disheartend tbh he knew he was done. He still but up a hellova fight but he had a look of inevitability on his face.

    Imo of course.
