Re: When will it ever stop? Just give the man his due...
I completely agree with Daxx. People hate on Tony because he's not slick, he's not fancy, he's not fast, etc. He might not be pretty in the ring but he wins fights, isn't that what it's all about? Tony is old school. He's a throwback to the days when it was prizefighting, not boxing. You actually had to be tough and fight for a victory. Nowadays, too many fighters are primadonnas who just use their natural athletic ability to dance their way to victory. I'm not hating on guys who are naturally more talented, but I think it's a sign of extreme arrogance and elitism to hate on anyone who doesn't have the natural gifts of a Mayweather or Roy Jones. Everybody has their strengths and weaknesses, and they use what works for them. You don't have to like Tony, but the constant put downs are nothing but childishness.
It's funny that so many people say that if it wasn't for Tony's chin he wouldn't be where he is today. Well, I could say if it wasn't for Floyd's talent, he wouldn't be where he is today. That might sound silly, but think about it. Floyd is an incredibly gifted athlete by nature, it's something he didn't choose or earn. I'm not saying he doesn't work hard also, but if he didn't have the natural ability, he wouldn't be so great. All fighters work hard, but Floyd has the advantage of being blessed with an extraordinary natural ability. Does that mean we should hold that against him?
PS- Let's be honest, the real reason people hate on Tony is because they can't stand the fact that a clumsy guy with a mullet will beat their smooth, Gucci wearing, favorite fighter's ass.
