And if you actually read up on Joshua Clottey he later admitted he didn't break his hand.
Margarito didn't have a severe sprained ankle... give me a break. You can't move like a boxer does on that. That's as much BS as I've ever heard. Regardless I give Margarito credit for beating Cintron and Cotto, but he isn't a mexican great. He puts shame IMO to the names of Barrera, JMM, JCC, Morrales, etc. Who have great heart, chins, and skill because he lacks so much that they had.
I know boxrec isn't best source but there normally spot on for past fights take a look.

  • Margarito suffered from a severe sprained ankle only a week before the bout, and also had problems with his left shoulder as reported days before the fight.
  • Clottey suffered an injured left hand in round four, probably while landing a left uppercut. He immediately went into retreat and told his corner at the break.
  • Showtime reported this live, explaining why Clottey proceded to lose rounds five through eleven on all three official scorecards.
  • Clottey later admitted his hand was not broken as initially reported.
  • Margarito threw 1675 punches

I never said Clottey hand was broken. However, I am calling bullshit on anyone that says they can fight on a severly sprained ankle, or it isn't severly sprained. I just watched the fight, and severly sprained ankle is really swollen that it wouldn't fight into a boxing shoe. He was wearing splint, but that looked like mild sprain at worst. Why do you think pro athletes sit out important games because of their bad sprains? You can't put weight on that leg, and Margarito was getting leverage off that back leg plenty.
