Trainer whilst you believe whatever you want you must accept that Renaldo Snipes and Tim Witherspoon took it to Holmes and damn near beat him and of course Holmes did show he was resiliant vs Shavers but Earnie was a TEENY TINY heavyweight and if he could sit Holmes down like he did then Larry would be in DEEP shit vs the likes of Bowe, Lewis, and Wlad no matter what you might think about them.

Larry could jab like a mofo but Bowe worked on the inside and moved VERY well, Lewis had crazy power and was very athletic, Wlad is more athletic than people want to admit he's robotic because he sits on his punches but he's very accurate and doesn't risk much.

Larry won fights by controlling distance with the jab and controlling the pace vs the bigger stronger fighters of more recent times he would have trouble.
Witherspoon was a better fighter than Sanders, Brewster and Golota.
Snipes put Holmes down but hey he got up and won - something that Wlad didn't do against a similar fighter in Brewster.
I'm sure if Brewster and Sanders can spark out Wlad then Larry could. Wlad is pretty one dimensional and his skills are not in the same league as Larry Holmes.
Bowe just was too lazy to beat Larry and tended to fight much smaller, powerless fighters and Larry would have given Bowe a beating.

Lennox and Larry are closely matched but for me Lennox had that right hand to keep Larry respectful. Lennox on points.

Lennox and Larry are Top 10 Heavy's while Bowe is Top 20 but Wlad ain't Great and still has alot to prove even to break into the Top 20 - the guys robotic and chinless.

Yeah but to be fair Larry didn't have the punching power of a Brewster or Sanders. Say what you want about those guys but they could both hit like mules.

I still say Larry would win though. Wlad's predictable attack and lack of body punching would cost him the fight IMO. Larry would simply outfence him with jabs to the body.

    Larry Holmes wasn't a KO puncher (69 wins & 44 KO's)....Wlad IS a KO puncher (51 wins & 45 KO's), Lewis...let's not even go there, and Bowe (42 wins 33 KO's INCLUDING a KO win over Evander Holyfield).

You may very well remember Riddick being lazy but in his short prime he was as dangerous as they come, anytime you take a prime Evander Holyfield and just whip his ass 2 out of 3 times then you're doing something special. Also Larry never fought guys as strong as Wlad, Lewis, and Bowe...those guys are beasts

All-Time great status does not factor in to deciding who wins a 1 on 1 fight. Buster Douglas was a bad mofo when he beat Tyson and on that night he may very well have beat any person put infront of him.

Can't rep you again..... but that's a damn good way of putting it. Bowe was a monster in his very short prime. He put some serious beatings on Holyfield and I was rooting for Holy..... He took a damn good punch also. I can't see Holmes jab as good as it is having much affect on the Bowe that fought Holyfield first time around.

I love Larry Holmes and he has been through alot and it really paid off for him. Does anyone remember him running on that car and dropping kicking Trevor Berbick in the chest with both feet like he was Shawn Michaels All you heard was, "Larry Holmes Kicked me!"

^one of the best moments ever. And

"And sonny... is your name sonny?... if I offended you back there, SO FUCKING WHAT?"

And after his fight with that Rocky Pipelli (sp?) guy back in the early 90s...

"Larry Holmes is a very rich man! He doesn't have to fighting these chumps on these small shows for chump change!"

    Larry was a real character

JTRock, sorry but the biggest guy Larry Holmes is 6'3 his reach was very big but the tallest guy he ever fought was Gerry Cooney at 6'6 and the most dangerous guy he ever fought was Cooney or Earnie Shavers....Wlad would be a combination of the two.....and IMO Wlad is FAAAAAAR better than either Shavers or Cooney when it comes to accuracy, power, and over all boxing skill.

As for you Pride....I think Wladimir is more dominant than anyone else at the moment and he'll be more respected when he's getting ready to retire, on top with the belts....Wlad is THE heavyweight division, bitch about him if you will but don't excpect me to accept your view.

Holmes was a consistent champion unlike Bowe, and certainly Wlad. Holmes could not be knocked out and he fought Carl Williams who was over 6ft 4.

He beat a PRIME Evander Holyfield TWICE...Evander is an all time great....am I wrong?

CARL WILLIAMS?!?!?! Dude look at the records Larry Holmes 47-0-0 vs Carl Williams 16-0-0....also Williams was a slender 215 so let's not compare the legitimate big boys to Carl Williams. Gerry Cooney was 6'6 and he was a big boy and if he was able to BOX then he would have beaten Holmes senseless...he hurt him.

I'm not saying Holmes isn't great, I'm not saying he wouldn't be a tough fight for anyone, I'm not trying to diss him, I just think he didn't have the strongest era of heavyweight competition, I don't think he or Mike Tyson had very much keeping them from being as dominant as they were as opposed to Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Lyle and Lewis, Bowe, Holyfield.

The same people arguing FOR Holmes argue AGAINST Rocky Marciano when IMO they had similar eras. They came after very great very popular champions and dominated but the same guys those great champions beat were sort of hanging around but weren't in their primes and the younger talent had not yet developed.

Holmes had heart, he fought and Beat Ken Norton with one arm due to injury. Klitschko quit against Ross Purrity - that explains the difference between these 2.

Comparing Klitschko to Larry Holmes, Joe Louis etc is some kind of wind-up. Klitschko had height - so what? Julius Long has height but that don't mean he beats Joe Louis or Larry Holmes.

Wladimir is a decent Heavyweight Champion nothing more and let's stop pretending otherwise. He's not even the best Heavyweight of the new millennium - Lennox Lewis has been the best in this decade even though he was knocking on.

Wladimir ain't even the best fighter in his family so I can't see how he is the Greatest of all-time as some seem to think.

Larry was stopped once in his career by Mike Tyson and hung in there against Holyfield and guys almost have his age... Larry was a very smart mentally tough cagy fighter... The undisputed underrated boxer of alltime

Klitschko was stopped by people that Larry would have boxed there ears off.... Why are you downplaying Earnie Shavers power all of a sudden one of the hardest PFP punchers to step in the ring and certainly

Not to mention Klits china chin and propensity to get unraveled against lesser opponent Larry would capitilize on that being the opportunist he was
