What are you're trainers like? They may be OK for a jog but you're doing serious running now, running trainers are a must... our bodies aren't designed to run on tarmac and concrete... if its really bad do you're road work on a feild... hopefully there'll be a hill near you on a feild.

As I understand it shin splints are caused because the Calfs are absorbing to much force every time you step off and its making them tense which is making the connective tissue on the front of you're shins (which binds the muscle to the bones) come under a great amount of strain and tears are forming.

Keep your legs stretched off!
