My cable bill each month is 156 USD if I've ordered a PPV. That gets me HBO, Showtime, a movie channel called Stars, and a about a hundred other channels. And whatver PPV fight I watched.
In the UK everybody has to pay for a TV license, (this funds the BBC which has no adverts). This works at approx $24 per month.

Add to that a Sky subscription (our equivalent to cable) - with Movies and sports that's approx $95 per month. Now we have an additional Sports channel called Setanta which has bought the rights to most of the boxing - they charge $20 per month.

Add to all that a PPV event which is approx $30 you have a total of approx $170

I agree with the above sentiment of voting with your wallet.

Khan doesn't have a strong fanbase and I think they'll find out just how strong this Saturday. That said, I think the logic is probably along the lines of 'if only a percentage of the terrestrial audience tunes in then it's still worthwhile'.

I've read something elsewhere today where Frank is bleating that it had to go PPV in order to give Amir the level of purse he was looking for...

Typical Warren Amir shouldn't be looking for a massive purse yet anyway and Warren is probably just bullshittingabout that. The fact is he can earn more money from sky because setanta don't have PPV's so Amir next few fights that should be as friday night free fights will all be PPV
