You know Markus... I still feel bad for Neg repping you in like your tenth post. I think it was a Calzaghe thread. I'll say that since me being WRONG doing that I've seen that you're a quality poster.

You are a TRUE fan... You are a somewhat scorned Calzaghe fan from what I gathered... But not just a Calzaghe fan but a true fan of the sport which I respect!

Does the boxing world want this fight? Hell yes!

But as a bit of a Clazaghe fan(I think he is a legit champ and has showed grit in many a bout) I'll say... I'm not sure.

    This is why...

Would I like to se the fight? Hell yes!

Do I think that the win would do anymore for his legacy? I don't know... Nor do any of us.

    I'll explain...

Pavlik is one of my favorite fighters... but what Pavlik does after a hypothetical loss would add or detract what happens to the legacy...

    Why risk it?

    You're an undefeated, great champion...

    Retire.

He's nothing but smart in retirement.

I think that, yes, he wasted time with Warren and was far to pretected cuz he had the skillset to spark a world wide following but in the end...

you need to look at the big picture...

if it's a legacy... I don't know(and we all won't for a few year) what a Pavlik win would do for him but an undefeated record and 13 year reign... I know what that does.

Thanks for the love im blushing!

Seriouly though Joe spent 8yrs of his peak looking for big fights and now finally they are here he is going to walk away from what would probably been seen as a career best win (should he win).

Styles make fights and Pavlik vs Calzaghe would be a total war and the winner would probably be seen as the new P4P1. If they both win there next fight it just has to happen.

Well it all started with his comments before each fight , "THEY CANT TAKE MY POWER" and of course lots of second rate fighters , such as Rick Thornberry ( who had been stopped by Henry Wharton beforehand ) did take his power , but time and time again in his annoying voice he said it over and over , lots of other reasons also but hey thats another story , and to be honest if that was the only thing he did to piss me off , it would have been enough for me to HATE THE PRICK ! GO FUCK YOURSELF CALZAGHE

I used to think he sounded like a mug with those comments too.

But he was CLEARLY copying the Naz-mouth style... and was probably told to act like that

(i'm not trying to make you hate him less.. i know that's impossible)

Joe Calzaghe would get KO'ed in a toe to toe war with Kelly Pavlik.

Agreed but it wouldn't be a toe to toe war

I agree with POB, he has washed his prime years and he cannot get them back. He beats Pavlik and people will say he was over rated. Also Joe is falling to bits, injuries and achieving everything in his career, he is where Lennox was when he was about to fight Tyson, that is Roy Jones.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.

    Good analogy!

No it won't but Pavlik will catch up to Calzaghe at some point, and then we will see how Calzaghe's chin responds because he has never been in there with a KO puncher before.

Pavlik comes foward in straight lines and would love imo in a war.

Pavlik is not a big single shot puncher let alone at 168lbs. Joe slaps him up.

You already know my reply about fighters coming forward in a straight line against Calzaghe so i won't repeat it again...........

But Pavlik has a very powerful right hand with is a Southpaw's weakness and Calzaghe gets hit with it all the time especially against Reid, Woodhall etc...........

I think Pavlik showed good power at 166 against Taylor. Because one body shot changed the tempo of the fight, Calzaghe will box no way he goes to war, it just depends on how Calzaghe's chin holds up against Pavlik. And it also depends on how long Calzaghe can stick and move and avoid getting into exchanges against Pavlik.

    err.. what?
Mikkel Kessler can hit and this is probably the best puncher Calzaghe has fought but he isn't as dangerous as Pavlik in terms of power IMO, and he can't change a fight around with one punch like Pavlik can from what i've seen anyway. And Kessler only landed solid shots here and there other than that he got dominated.

Chris Eubank has got some good KO's under his belt but again look at his KO record, only average at best. Jeff Lacy had some good power but he didn't land a solid shot on Calzaghe...........

Then you have decent punchers like Reid, Woodhall, Brewer, etc. I would like to know who you really consider a real dangerous KO puncher out of Calzaghe's resume Fenster..........

Calzaghe has been decked by Mitchell, Salem, who aren't big punchers and they were both by single shots and they were both heavy knockdowns aswell i don't think Calzaghe has a granite chin by any means.

I agree with bits of dark lord al, POB, markus..

I don't hate calzaghe cause i think he isn't a good fighter, or whatever, i hate him cause he is wasted talent in a sport that i enjoy very much watching.. Dark lord al hit it on the head, when he says "he can't take my power" etc.. He talks the BIGGEST game, says he's the best fighter blah blah fucking blah, but he strayed from the US and big fights his whole career, until now.. I think Joe is a great, crafty fighter, who has a lot of heart and is extremely skilled, but it pisses me off that he'd talk smack after beating people like manfredo.. said something about hitting him so hard he broke his hand, blah blah.. He's the most pompous MORON in the media.. and that is why i hate him. ..IMO Calzaghe needs these fights to be remembered as the great fighter HE thinks he is.. If no one knew who he was and someone said "you don't know joe calzaghe? he defended his title 20 times etc.. etc.." then yeah that's great.. but to fans who know him and know how he's acted over the years, and who he's actually fought, that isn't good enough for me to feel he's the elite fighter he feels that he is..

fight roy jones, and beat him convincingly, fight kelly pavlik and beat him, and retire as one of the greatest fighters to step in the ring.. Maybe he already is one of the greatest fighters who has stepped in the ring, but how else can you prove it unless to fight the BEST of the BEST? He is finally doing that, and that is essential to his legacy.
