Im just going to sound bitter beause I was so damn sure Mayorga would steamroll Mosley, he was bigger, he was stronger he just seems to have lost the fire that made his name, a style like Mayorgas needs to be fighting more often, like a tiocking metronome with its momentum.

Credit to Shane, the finish couldnt have been more conclusive, no arguments there but as for the scoring, what did Shane do? Fuuck all.

Mayorga was outboxing him and I was dumbfounded when he got hurt in the last, I couldnt believe that he would go down after doig so well and then just stay on his back!!!

Ok he may not have realised how long was left in the bout but to just lay there and accept defeat was a bit odd, even get up and hold, anything, im pretty sure he had his facultys still.

I was o sure hed knock Shnane out I put £10 on each round for Mayorga and also £10 for a Mayorga and Forbes double, so £130 quid down the fuuckin drain!!

Mayorga deserved at the very least to have been ahead on the cards, Mosley got outhustled and out jabbed by Mayorga

I had SSM up by 3 points going into the 12th round...
He won a couple of the early rounds and swept all of the middle rounds until the late rounds where he took off 1 or 2 rounds and then won again.

I keep reading all these posts about how bad SSM looked. Well yeah did you see that Mayorga was a Light Heavyweight last night?

Not only that but Mayorga minus his little show of letting SSM hit him fought well for him.

Why don't we aske better how many of you after seeing Mayorga take flush shots think SSM would stop him?
    Exactly...

SMM knocked out a guy who outweighed him drastically.

I agree with you pretty much Mick, Mosely beat a huge and very determined Mayorga in a weight class that he never really belonged in anyway.

It was by no means a bad performance by Mosely. I thought Mayorga fought a superb fight given his limitations and although it was scrappy and even comical at times I really enjoyed it.

    And the knockout was sweet

Mick i also had the same score when i was doing RBR, 7-4 to Mosley.

And Ross what the hell are you talking about ? Mayorga outboxed Mosley are you blind ?

Mayorga was being aggressive and throwing more punches, but he was the one getting outboxed. By Mosley's quick/sharp counter shots. Mosley made Mayorga miss a ton of punches especially when Mayorga flurried, he missed almost all of his punches.

And even though the fight was messy at times thanks to Mayorga's one punch and holding tactic. I think Mosley performed well once he got over the first 3 rounds, there were flashes of the old brillance from Mosley.

Especially when he beat Mayorga to a pulp in the 7th or 8th round i can't remember which.

But i don't see why people are being so hard on Mosley, yes he looked lazy at times. But i thought he fought a smart fight, and i liked the way he took few rounds off at the start of the fight. To figure out Mayorga's unorthodox style.

Once Mosley got his right hand leads working especially countering with it. I thought Mosley took over the fight, i think Mosley still has alot to give to boxing and i think he will still do well against most Welterweights.

Andre Berto vs Shane Mosley is a mouth watering fight to me.

May orga did his share of holding but he wasnt the one that was so eager to hold he (Mosley) litteraly jumped off the floor for a hug

Like I said before the fight, SHnae is small and too old to carry on, unfortunately for Mayorga he is accurate and has stayed in the gym, if Mayorga had taken a fight inbetween he would have been a lot sharper.

Shane looked his age and so did Ricardo and all of a sudden eevryone is shocked that the fight wasnt good, I though Mayorga would be too much, Mosley certainly wasnt as good as De La Hoya or Trinidad, he had big trouble with very underactive (by his own standards) Mayorga.

Now Mosley realises how silly he sounded when saying he can fight the top boyts for another 5 years and back tracked about a Margarito match.

Mayorga got owned, and so did you, for being so cock-sure he was going to destroy Shane. Maybe you'll start to understand that matchup make fights now. You thought Mayorga was winning that fight, especially towards the end when Mosley was peppering him with right hands and Mayorga was landing nothing effective? You really are a fanboy. If Mayorga was so much bigger, he would have been KTFO much earlier.

Fuuck off, what about the other diicks round here saying Shane was gonna blow Mayorga out early, if Mayorga had stayed busy, in the gym or fighting instead of having to drop down from 164lb he would have won deffinitly for sure no doubt %100, I am right

I think Mosely was just edging it and that is a big JUST! but i dont think he should retire he just fought Mayorga's fight thats all. He could fight Forrest or Berto for a title and i think he could beat either.

I had Mayorga ahead going into the 12th.

I have seen both the HBO and UK version and as much as i dislike Jim Watt the HBO version was totally biast, infact it was a joke.

I think Watt was riding Mayorga abit too much to be fair . I knew the judges scorecards would be closer so I didnt take too much notice of his scorecard by the end.

I think all this conjecture and discussion just confirms that it was a very close fight, with the scoring open to interperation.

I wouldn't have had Mayorga winning the fight on my card but I it was certainly very close. There were a few rounds that could have gone either way and it despite being a bit scrappy it was a very entertaining fight imo.

I had Mosley slightly ahead going in to the 12th. I need to watch it again though.

Watt bugs me, I didnt notice he was biased towards Mayorga, in fact him and whoever were annoying me by rewarding Mosley with undesrved praise for things he wasnt doing, like catching Mayorga, theyd show a replay and Mosley would throw a few shots non would land ten Mayorgas would get through.

Mosley said as much afterwards that he though at one point, Mayorga was throwing an overhand right but ended up getting caught with an uppercut, how different could those 2 punches be.

Also Watt commented how Mosley was too static and getting caught too much.

Mosley has always been like that, he doesnt make any attempt to move his upper body to avoid punches, he used his legs and now hes getting older its highlighted, hes been successfull with speed and strength, against other strong fighters he struggles.

I only see about 30 seconds of the Mosley i remember and that was a spell in the 6th and the knockout.

Anyone know who was ahead on the cards going into 12?
