Gamboa is too wild and not technical enough in his approach, plus he has a suspect chin. Abner Mares and Roman Gonzalez are the new stars not Gamboa, until he improves technically and defensively.

you can't seriously say Gamboa isn't a star. With his amatuer pedigree and scintillating fight style he will be a much bigger draw than both Mares and Gonzalez.

Yes he's vulnurable, and yes he could well get sparked soon but his speed, power and all action style will mean he's a ppv draw a couple years from now.

The kid is a star in the making whether he loses on the way or up not.

Kirkland will smoke him, that kid is an animal. Anyone who trains with Anne Wolfe is going to be mean as fuck.

I want Kirkland and Angulo, that would be a collision.

Kirkland with either is a great fight. Anne Wolfe scares the crap out of me

Nice one,I think Angulo takes him out.Showed nice arsenal over last two fights with good tempo, yes, tonight he was in against a human speed bag though.Kirkland can cave in walls but Angulo just looks well rounded.

I disagree; I think Kirkland has more trouble against Martinez than Angulo. And if you ask me why I have no clue

Agreed on that.I think both, ecspecially much more experienced and all around Martinez beat Kirkland right now but I give Kirkland a hitters shot against both but thats about it .....love the 'Bucky' also

Have you seen the first fight Ice? All I know is what it says on boxrec, Margarito KO 7.

I'm a bit suprised by all the hyperbole regarding Martinez tonight though. I mean before tonight he simply was never mentioned by anyone, I've never even seen a thread about him, and certainly Kellerman and Lampley etc have never talked about him at all.

Then he beats up on Bunema, a journeyman fighter who got lucky last time out and all of a sudden he's too much for anyone at 154 and should be looking at a rematch with Margarito

I just don't buy this. No matter how good he looked tonight (against a nobody) what has he done to merit a mega fight with Margarito? It's just completely insane, Margarito is king at 147 and looks for huge fights with Mayweather, Cotto and Williams, Martinez has never even beat a name opponent and all of a sudden they are throwing his name in the mix.

Faster than Shane Mosely and Roy Jones, seriously wtf were Lampley and Kellerman on tonight?

He looked impressive against a completely overmatched opponent. That is all, no more no less.

In terms of significance I'd say it ranks similar to Lucian Bute's win over Berrio, afight that catapaults him amongst the top of his division but certainly doens't get cries of how Calzaghe, Pavlik, Dawson and Hopkins must all face him and that he's the avoided man.

I just don't understand why everyone went so crazy for Martinez tonight.

Yea i've seen it Bilbo that was the first fight i see of Antonio Margarito's. It was a bit one sided and Margarito broke up Martinez, you can watch it on youtube. By the way Bilbo i was being sarcastic about Margarito vs Martinez rematch

lol I figured you were with the face it just bothered me the way HBO were on MArtinez's sack all night.

Lampley said in all seriousness that Martinez should not be looking at the weak champs like Forrest and Phillips and should be going for the mega fights like Margarito.

He claimed he had the handspeed of a PRIME Roy Jones and Shane Mosely and that he was too good for anyone at 154.

All this from one fight against Bunema. Add to that the fact that they have NEVER mentioned his name before and it just wound me up.

You would think the way they were talking that they had been championing his cause for the last couple years and he was finally getting his breakout fight, but in fact they have never mentioned his name before to my knowledge.

He put on a great performance, and definitely becomes one of the danger men at 154 but they are talking like he's now the man that Margarito and Williams need to face to prove their dominance or some shit.

Personally I think he's merely on a par now with guys like Forrest and Phillips, both 50/50 fights imo.

And if ever steps into the ring with Daniel Santos he's getting laid out.

It really amuses me how Martinez gets KO'd in 7 by Margarito and they clamour for a rematch. Clottey loses a unanimous decision against Margarito and they clamour for a rematch and tell us Clottey is great.

Yet Santos beats Margarito twice and they never mention him

How fucked up is that. Surely the guy that SHOULD be fighting Margarito is Santos who won his belt by knocking out the unbeaten champ in his own back yard and who has beaten Margarito two times to boot.

HBO just loves the losers it seems, Vitali against Lennox, Clottey and Martinez against Margarito.

    They irritate me.
