So you mean, you're not interested to see a PBF-PAC fight IF (BIG IF) PAC beats Hoya more convincingly than what PBF did to Hoya?

The fight between the present no. 1 P4P against the one before him is I guess a very meaningful fight...

    Floyd's retired.
OK... If a PAC convincing win over Hoya can't flush out Floyd from retirement then I guess we will just settle for PAC-Hatton...

Don't need ODLH for that, I would much rather see him fight Hatton anyway. OR try to conquer the lightweight division.

PAC needs ODLH as one of his remaining big fights... PAC will be retiring next year so after ODLH, I think he will only consider the other big fights... PBF, Hatton, JMM are the only big fights (in that order) I can think of...

Bookies don't consider it as a mismatch...

Oscar De La Hoya (-200) Manny Pacquiao (150)

Hoya vs. PAC is a lot closer compared to these other fights...

Mikkel Kessler (-2300) Danilo Hausler (900)
Chad Dawson (-250) Antonio Tarver (240)
Kelly Pavlik (-275) Bernard Hopkins (275)
Joe Calzaghe (-300) Roy Jones Jr (275)
Jermain Taylor (-500) Jeff Lacy (425)
Ricky Hatton (-250) Paul Malignaggi (225)

This is why it's a meaningless fight, If ODLH wins, it's because he is so much bigger. If PAC wins it's because ODLH is too far past it.

    Translation: POINTLESS

I understand people getting into the hype saying this is a mega fight, but it's not, it's a mega event that is completely pointless in the scheme of things for boxing. I know Saddoboxer, brings up this fight regardless of thread topic, and he has made it clear he is stoked, but for me, it WILL be on the sports book, but I WON'T be watching.

I personally hope that ODLH flattens PAC within 3 rounds so everyone can see how pointless this fight is.
I doubt Pac goes 3. Unless Oscar decides to carry him.

The thing is I can just see De La Hoya not pushing as hard as he can because he'll want to put on a good fight and make the fight last until late in the fight. I still think he could have done PBF if he would have jabbed more

You could say along the same lines though that Ivan Calderon would have all the advantages over Oscar except power. Are you forgetting size? When is the last time Oscar had to worry about a featherweight hitting him? Of course a goof would say Mayweather but Oscar knew Floyd would never rely on being able to hurt him to win. Manny would absolutely need to be able to at least slow Oscar down with his shots, while taking some clean punches of his own. That's what I think is so unlikely to happen in this fight. Pac just doesn't have the slickness to transend such a size advantage and outbox a far harder hitter, and he's damn sure not going to win a shootout. He needs to at least be on par with his opponents from a physicality standpoint in order to be dominant imo. DLH is just to much bigger and stronger.

    Floyd's retired.

While he says he is retired, he is about as stable as Pride of Boston's last girlfriend. It would not surprise me at all to see him come out if any of these crazy hypotheticals would play out.

These were my original thoughts but now I think he is going to fight Hatton in the new year providing he gets past Malignaggi which I think he will easily.

I admit that I'm the biggest pAcfan here. Many can attest to that but I really can't see Manny winning this fight. Oscar will win this with hard shots around the 7th to 9th round. I hope I'm wrong.

Btw, Oscar won't be knocking Manny in the early rounds even if he can do it..... that would be anticlimactic for him.... and it would just confirm the popular opinion in the boxing world that this is a mismatch. Oscar is not that dumb to lose his credibility via an early KO.

I am contented with the fact that my boy gets a shot at ODLH and be truly known throughout the world.... of course, with at least $20 Million after that, Manny is a true winner in this fight win or lose.

You can speculate all you want, but he is in fact retired.

If Stevie Forbes can make it competitive then so can Pacman. Oscar wins a competitive fight UD.
