Lil. Waynes got zero talent... IMO.

One of the worst song makers to go along with wack ass lyrics.
But don't worry kingfrnk I haven't liked Rap or Hip Hop for years now.
I used to be heavily into it but that shit died out.

It's not like it once was where Cube, Pac, Biggie, Eminem, Snoop (when he's on), X-Zibit, Wu Tang, Method, Cypress Hill, Dr. Dre, The Fugees,
Big L, Busta, Tribe Called Quest, J5, Mobb Deep, Common, Mos Def, Talib, Warren G, De La Soul, Nas, Bone Thugs, LL, KRS, Beastie Boys etc. etc.

When fucken Hip-Hop & Rap had messages. When songs weren't about going mainstream. When it was gutter and it was about telling your story not trying to make shit up.

That ain't your real car in the video, that's a fucken rent-a-car.
Those aren't your jewels those are some rent-a-jewels.

All the guys I listed above would fucken take a shit on almost every rapper/hip hop artist that's out there today. TI, Lil. Wayne, Juvenille, Lil. John, T-Pain, Soulaj Boy, AZ, Clips, Lupe, Cassidy, Twista, Three 6, Ying Yang etc. etc. etc. Fucken wack ass... Who are just doing mainstream shit.

Hip-Hop rap ain't been the same since possibly 2001-2002...
For me it's died and I haven't bought an album since then. The only worth while ones that I do buy are when anyone of the old school guys drops one.

Here and there, there's been good songs on the occasional album but nothing like before. The only dudes out there is Nas, Jay-Z, Common, Mos Def, Talib etc. etc. but they don't get air play like these other cats who are with stupid lyrics just trying get the single some air play.

WOW Mick! I couldn't agree with you more. Yea, Wayne is hot right now, he got good beats, but his lyrics and rapping style is so childish.

I think hip-hop is in such a bad state. It's all about club banging, lyrics about making money, and a bunch of cocky bullsh*t. Other than the occasional beat that makes me bob my head, I think hip-hop's musicians are long gone or overshadowed by the mainstream rap music..

Right on caleoh, don't get me wrong theres some songs I like here and there but not like before when a whole album meant something.

Kanyes "All falls down" is lyrically one of the best songs of recent times for me. The message and what he says hit's a nerve in everyone if you listen to it. The beat is sick too, so it goes well.
Other then that song outside of his collaboration with Christian Martin from Cold Play on the song "Homecoming" I'm not big on Kanye. But I got mad respect to his song All falls down the 2nd and 3rd verse is as real as it can get.

Let me preface this by saying that I am not a big rap/hip-hop fan. I like some of it, but I'm not a hardcore fan or anything.

Rap music today reminds me of where rock was in the 80s. Just a bunch of fake motherfuckers with nothing to say who are only interested in getting rich. Sure, there are some good artists, like there were then, but by and large they are overshadowed by the Poisons of the world. Make money, get high, get laid. That's all it's about right now.

That's my two cents at least.

That ol' hip/hop thread was tight Mick....need to bump it Good post up top Btw

Classic "Meaningful" hip/hop has gone the way of all other generational forms of music really.Maybe its over saturation and mass availability in the media, loose track of what your saying as opposed to how you look just saying it ??That made so much since when I typed it but in translation it's prob ally all cloudy

Lil Wayne isn't totally garbage. He has some good stuff out there mostly on features, he's an average rapper.

As for the state of the rap game, well it's not the 90's where rap music in the main stream was actually good with Wu Tang, Biggie and all those guys from New York and Oakland hitting it big with real talent, Nas, Jay Z both came out of that era or shortly thereafter.

There are still more then enough good rappers to go around today, just like I'm sure there was plenty of good rock music in the 80's it just doesn't get the play it deserves. Whatever, people will tire of the Yin Yang Twins eventually, and all of their ilk. Kanye West is the closest rap has right now to a new guy who hit it big in the mainstream with real staying power. But there are tons of great rappers.

Joe Budden is a guy who won't ever get big again and that's pretty much his own fault. Wu Tang is still going at it, Ghostface is still fucking great as is Masta Killa who put out an album in 2007. The latest Wu album was great too. Of course they aren't new guys but still, it's good stuff out there.

With the RHCP guitarist covering George Harrisson, fucking great song classic stuff. Ghost's verse about the gunfight is about as good as anything you'll find in any era.

Mick do you remember that song about No handlebars by the Flobots or something?? I remember you posted the lyrics and thought it was silly, but I heard it for the first time a few weeks ago and thought of you.

you should never shake a baby. I know because I saw it on a billboard near Topeka. It also said not to have abortions because they kill little childs. Also, I have learned many other things, such as a real relationship with the demoralization of America and interstates...because most porn stores are there. You should also not kill more frogs than your amphibian appetite can handle.
