Pff Calzaghe didn't beat him, and Pavlik has a lot more on his plate then 90% of this forum thinks he does. This is a nightmare matchup for Pavlik, and you will see why on the 18th, He might still win, but this is the worst fight a limited mover like Kelly could take.

Funny that people 'swear' calzaghe lost, i coulda sworn that i saw calzaghe win a split decission. Also the boxrec records say that calzaghe won a split decission aswell.

They also say he has won 45, lost 0 and drawn 0 aswell

Hmmm, maybe im imagining that boxrec is saying that and imagining that calzaghe wasnt awarded a split decission?

As for this fight, i think hopkins will be trouble for pavlik as hes extremely experienced, but i cant see him hurting pavlik. I can only see pavlik keep going via persistance and either win a points decission or a very late stoppage.

If hopkins stamina goes in this fight like it did in the calzaghe fight where he looked like he wasnt gonna last much longer in the ring because he could barely stand, having to pretend he was hit with low blows that hurt him so that he could rest and recupperate whilst trying to take in as much oxygen as possible (gasping for air for the full 5 minutes of rest period)...then how the hell is he gonna stay on his feet with pavlik for the last few rounds?

The only chance bhop has is if he uses his tricks and makes it another boring fight to watch by constant clinching and manages to frustrate pavlik (which he can do).

Bhop shouldnt be called the 'executioner', he should be called the 'frustrater'

Hopkins goes 1-1 with elite white boys. Well Pavlik is very good not quite elite yet.

Pavlik too limited in what he does, too ploddy and has zero variation jab jab straight right hand.

Hopkins to scupper my dreams of Calzaghe obliterating him by taking a clear up, by 3rds.

Look in boxrec and it'll tell you
Joe Bugner beat Henry Cooper.... he didnt. It'll tell you Holyfield fought a draw with Lewis.... he didnt he got his ass kicked
BoxRec publishes the judges verdict whether its right or wrong.

Hopkins did good for an old guy but watch his first ten fights. He was a fighting machine back then. In his last ten fights he's been a holding machine.

    Calzaghe clearly won that fight.

How can you score it for a guy that didnt want to fight and act like a girl?

    115-112 Calzaghe maybe wider.

Hopkins didn't do enough to win. End of Story. If Calzaghe slapped, why didn't Hopkins walk through them or throw effective counter punches? He just sat there like a lame duck. That is why he lost the fight.

I feel the same way if Calzaghe slaps why wouldn't Bernard have walked through them. Hopkins does what he does talks alot of shit, then fight time comes throw's 1 or 2 punches in which land clearly in the round and pisses and moans when the desicion goes the other way. Taylor beat him twice from 4 out of 6 judges. Calzaghe also beat him 2 out of 3 judges. Somehow this guy still get's all the kudos that he has been unbeaten since Roy Jones. I just don't get it. He is the most boring fighter of our era and a close second is Winky. I just most not know boxing at all. To me you have to throw punches to win a fight not look good in the ring by your defensive capabilities. Maybe if Hopkins threw more than 20 punches a round I could give respect to him but I just can't at this point. Hopkins will be stopped in 8 rounds from Pavlik. One punch at a time will not do it against this fighter. Hopkins saying he won't be able to do it with a right hand.Well wasn't it the left uppercut that knocked Miranda down and a left hook over and over that knocked Taylor out in the corner.Sure the right hand set it up but his left hand is just as powerful.
